HomeMy WebLinkAboutCorona del Mar BID Minutes 11/01/2012 1 Corona del Mar Business Improvement District Board Special Meeting Minutes November 1, 2012 Newport Beach City Hall – City Council Meeting Room Board Members Present: Bernie Svalstad, Jim Walker, Scott Laidlaw, Tom Nicholson and Keith Dawson Board Members Absent: Tina Hoover, Ali Zadeh City Personnel: Tara Finnigan, Michael Torres (Acting Assistant City Attorney), Luke Boughen (City Attorney’s office) Guest(s): Nancy Gardner, Linda Leonhard, Dan Purcell, Jim Mosher 1. Call to Order at 7:34 AM 2. Roll Call The Chairman called the roll and determined that a quorum was in place. Jim Walker noted for the record that he was present as a member of the CDM BID as well as a member of the Restaurant BID. All present at the meeting introduced themselves. 3. Public Comments: None 4. Business Improvement District Conversion Acting Assistant City Attorney Michael Torres made a presentation describing the basic differences between the CDM BID’s present configuration as a “1989 BID” as compared to a “1994 BID”. He handed out a 2-page document entitled “Frequently Asked Questions about Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) Conversion”. A lengthy discussion followed with questions from members of the BID Board and guests concerning the pros and cons of converting from a 1989 BID to a 1994 BID. Bernie Svalstad suggested that the question of whether or not to convert from a 1989 BID to a 1994 BID be placed on the agenda for the next regular CDM BID meeting. 5. Adjournment The meeting was adjourned at 8:59 a.m.
