. At noon today (Thursday) the starting gun will be fired,
and 134 boats will cross the line to begin the world's largest
ocean race, from Newport to Ensenada.
A record-sized crowd is expected to gather at the Corona
del Mar bluffs overlooking the jetty, and at other points of "
vantage, to watch Southern California's top racing boats start
on this 13Q..mile c~c.
The bluffs \\ill pro\i de the best spot for spectators, be-
cause most of the boats will be in the harbor in the morning.
Mayor Dick Drake has suggested that local merchants should
close their shops for one hour this morning so that all might
have the opportunity to see the start of this second annual
Ensenada race.
