An elaborately decorated Bal-
boa Bay Club turned out hun-
dreds of Hawaiian dressed "nat·
ives" to partake in a Luau on
Friday evening.
The Club was covered with
palm branches, bamboo, fish net.
star fish. glass balls and fishing
cork as well as brightly colored
fish. with cartoons by Dick Shaw
adding a touch of comedy. The
pool itself was spotted with water
liliPs and floating lights with dry
ice making it bubble and steam.
Flaming torches surrounded the
area.

were on hand, with prizes award·

don Wevill brought in 270-pound
fish that still holds the recorc:t
for this eason.
Fourteen teams trom the
Southern California Lawn Bowl·
ing Association were welcomed
here Saturday by the Newport
Harbor Club. Mayor Dick Drake
addressed the various clubs at
noon. The Redlands bowlers won
the triple tournament, the Lagu-
na Beach plaoed second, and the
Arroyo Sece Club was third.
Because of the large number
