flare bomb, which contained three
pounds or TNT and could have ex-
ploded with the slightest jar. He
had found it at the beach at 36th
and Ocean Front.

Ed Bates were called, and they
called the Navy Ammunition Net
Depot at Seal Beach. The bomb
\\RS taken there for examlnation.
The firing pin had been removed,
but somf'how the bomb had not
