A $9 monthly Increase in the
coet ot Uvlng bonus, from $19 to
$28, for city employees was ap-
proved by City Council Monday
evening. City Manager John Sail-
ors sa.ld that the increase, effect-
ive today t May l 1, would total
$20,000 a year.
Mr. Sallors said that the action
was based on a 5.3 point rise in the
cost of living index of the Bureau
of Labor Statistics between March
15, 1951. and March 15, 1952. This
formula works both ways, so that
the bonus can be reduced if the
index falls. Evaluation is made
every six months and adjustment
ma~ If there is a change of at
least three points in the indeJC.
