Why do we keep on building electric service facilities when co.su
are so high and our construction budget runs into many milhons of
doJlars every year? That's a good question. And here's the answer:
We need the facilities right now. We added approxhnately 70.000
new customers to Edison lines each year in four of the past fi\'e
years. Actually, our customers used almost a billion kilowatt hours
more in 1951 than in 1950-and wh en someone orders electricity by
flicking a switch, we must be able to deliver it.
