If you're a marlin fisherman,
you've already heard the big
news. It's Harold Hopkins of Bal·
boa, a past preslctent of the Bal.
boa Angling Club, whom we now
so proudly hall. Down In New
Zealand, where he's fishing, the
Maoris must have put on a
whole series of c e r e m o n I a I
dances. The occasion for all this
was a 331-pound marlin.
O n a world-wide basis, 331·
pound marlin are never tripe.
but neither are they ex-Cep·
tlonals. In a letter last week, Kip
Farrington told me that thou·
aand pounders were getting to be
a habit off Capo Blanco. Peru.
Texan Alfred ClaiiM'!ll's giant

turned up mJghty few marlin
hereabouts that go 300 pounds or
over. Might we add, on any
tackle.
