He said he was driving slowly and that the pitting couJd not h ave come !rom rocks or gravel hurled by car wheels. We investigated Mr. Warren's windshield. and sure enough. there were pits all right. So we checked our own windsh ield- and there wt're hundreds of tiny spots. They can be ff'lt by scratching with a fingernail, and many a re large enough to show the chipping of the glass.
