e ELECTION HIGHLIGHTS
It wlls a weary bunch of election officials, and newspapermen,
and some politicians too, who finally left the Newport Beach City Hall
in the wee hours of yesterday morning. The time was about a quarter
of 4 when the election d~tails were all wrapped up, and ~he final total
jotted down.
There was plenty of drama to hold our interest all that time -
the see-sow races between Kenneth Kingsley and Doreen Marshall in
District 3. and between J. Frank .,A,tkinson and Stanley Ridderhof in
District 4. and the close decision on the name change.
With only 4 precincts to go. Councilman Ridderhof held a 7 -point
lead. Then in came Corona del Mar Precinct 24 with a 169 to 7 6 +ally
to put Mr. Atkinson comforlllbly in the lead, to stay.
THERE'S A NEW OFFICE in the Newport Beach City Hell, oc·
cupied by Don M•ans. purchasing director, who has mo...ed over
from the City Corporation Yard. Her• he is conferring with his os·
