• A SUGGESTION FOR THE CDM BEACH
A long-time local resident raises a complaint:
Why can't the local folks, and everyone else too,
have the privilege of driving down to the Corona del
Mar beach without charge to p ick up members of
the family -and come right up again? He said he
had been refused this privilege during the last week-
end - a nd it's a mighty long walk up the hill for
httJe tots. Perhaps some type of "pick-up" JXlSS, to
be insert ed under the windshield wiper, could be
arranged
* * * • WHAT'S NEXT TO BE CONTROIJ.ED?
While I was listening .to the Newport Beach City
Council arguing Mo nday evening about what rate
to set for taxicabs, I could only wonder: What right
has any city council to set a ny rates for any private
b usiness? If price -fixing by governmental authority
can apply to taxicab fares, why not to the price of
automobiles. or to the price of admission to the local
movies, or to the cost of a d ozen eggs? Or mebbe I
shouldn't g ive them a ny more 1deas.
