The Newport Beach City Council called bids Monday evening
for construction of the traffic control device at the Marine Ave.
bridge e ntrance to Balboa l,land. (
Bids are to be turned In at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, March 10, at
the city clerk's office. •
Public wor~ directors Bert Webb estimated the cost at $16,600,
a nd aald the construction would take about a month. ·
City Manager Robert Shelton aa.ld that plans call for comp te ·
tion of the project In time for Easter Week, which will begin on
the week·end of April 9·10. He announced that the Irvine Co. has
agreed to donate the additional land needed to construct the turn·
around device near the bridge entrance.
