They were told that Mr. Oils was
In the bulldlna. Firemen fought
their way In to the structure but
when they found Mr. 0111 he had
alreadyb-H-n fatally burned. Three
firemen were treated for ml.nor
InJuries In battling the flames.
A cigarette wu blamed for
starting the fire, whkh caused
an esllma ted $8.000 damaae. Mr.
Olls, his brother, Jacques 011!1,
and Gary D. Bagley were ottU·

arrived home with Jam&!& Lane
of Garden Grove and William
Sturs~ of Costa Meaa. Mr. Lane
rema.rked that he smelled smoke.
They all went Into the bedroom
and observed Mal"l'el Olla sUU
lying on the bed. They noted the
burned spot on the mattress to
have enlar&ed. A half.quart can
of beer, on a c.halr next to the
bed, waa poured onto the mat·
tress, thoroughly aoakln& It and
putting out the smoldering mat·
treu.. they reported.
About 10 p.m. they decided to
drive to Corona del Mar. The
apartment a ppeared normal, they
aald, and they did not ma ke a
laat minute check of the bedroom

would have been impossible for the regi$tered owner to heve been
the dri'ler of the c&r of the time of the collisi'on Fridey night. The

tbsp. of cream, salt, a dash or
cayenne pepper, and four crum-
bled soda crackers. Pile this mix-
