be a relatively insignificant venture in literary effort
on the Orange Coast ~ollege camous that may gener-
ate the drive br decency.
I have •l~ady h91d a nUmber of shocked and anqfy
comrrents on the morbid nature of the contents of the
"r:r sl" the college literary magazine. I Ntll agree
tttat s tudents have the ri~t tn write as they please
red to publ ish lheir writings-if it is done at their own
exnense and not by muns of taxpayers' funds. 1ut
the students, and their advisors . and the college it-
!>elf. must be aware of the fact that the students' 'lfO·
c1uct1on s are a measure of the moral s tandards betng
jeveloped 1n the schooL
If it were the case of a pr~vate school. all that a
'lfOtesting supporter need to do IS to withdraw hes
support and use hes contribution where he knows 1t
will go for a good mo ral cause. ln the case of a tax-
supported schonl the taxpayet is like a captive.
