"ltow Do You Kftow Yow Are Right?"
Once again I have recetved a note from a s'ertttc who
~ks that familiar and despair~ng Quesbon, "How can
you be so SU ~C:: that you are SO right""
The Question is heard often-generally as the last
refuge of those wno have run oot of sound argument.
We heard it not so long ago dvrtng the controversy
o ver the Orangt Coast t:ollege Crest-In answer to
those of us who o bJected to the sordid and shodc tng
contents of that magaz1ne.
The note JUSt recetved provides me the chance to
o ffer the same answer that I gave a lmost 2 yec11s ago
In ttle Log. The writer of the note is in reality raising
the QUestion aslted by Pilat!, "~hat is truth?"-as
tho&q\ truth is Impossible to find. The Implication is
thi t there are no etemal truths that remain unchanging
for all time. The skeptics say that "rl~t'' and "truth"
lteep changln9-dependlng fo r their meaning on -.at-
ever the majority accept at .. , given momtnt In his-
tory.
I disagree with this philo~y of "~orlty mall.'es
ri~t''. I believe that there 11e etem11 •uttls-the
"moral ab5otutes"-that they are to be touncS In the
laws of t»oct, And that It Is the cluty of every person to
stotlt out these tNfls and to live by ttlem. To be
"right'' me~s 1bldlng by these truths.

OtspUe atle doubts of the skeptlu, tttere Is no IIIYI--
tery about the laws of God. They •• recorded for all
to read In the Holy Scriptures, where It Is written of
Him who represents truth: "Jesus Christ the same
yesterday, and today, Md for ever."
The skeptics who say that there ate no eternal, un-
dla\geabfe truths are In reality saying that there Is
no God. That is an awesome and tenlfylng ju~ent
to make.

A.a..tu-Know John Birch
The John Birch Society is the prime target of the
communists and of the anti-anti-communists, who are
thus testifying to the effective wortc: that the Society
Is ,doing to alert citizens throughout the United States
to the deadly peril of the communist conspiracy.
The line of attack is always the same: "The John
Birch Society Is more dangerous than the communists
themselves" ... "The John Birch Society is evil b~
cause it uses the tactics of communism to fi!jlt the
communists."
1 have attempted several times to pin down these
charg es. 1 have written to such anti-anti-commun ists
as Govern or Pat '3rown, 1\ttomey General Stanley
Mosk, and columnist Dixon t'iayer, asking for proof of
the accusations. No proof has ever been presented.
Their answer can be summed up as follows: "The John
Birchers are more dange rous than communists becau se
they are more dangerous than communists." 1 ~ not
mak ing th is up. That is precisely what the anti-anti-
communists say in rebuttal. They have never sought
to prove that dedicated, patriotic ~mericans who are
seeking "less gOvernmen t, more responsibili ty" are
more dangerous than communists, or how the program
to preserve our Constitutional ~ep•Jblic can be I ikened
to communist tactics.
The John '3irch Society itself has been going about
its business of fighting the conspiracy without paus-
ing to waste time on the rear guard action of answer-
ing the smear attacks. But now, on the occasion of the
17th am iversary of the death of John 1irch at the
hands of the Chinese communists, the local chapters
of the Soci ety are pre senting a message, "America-
Know John '3irch." ~ead their message on this page
of the ~nsign, and if you wish to learn more about the
world's most for midable and most effective anti-com-
munist organ ization, write for more material. The
addre ss is at the bottom of the message.
