ENSIGN IS STILL FLYING
1 am told of rumors that the F.nsign is abOut to be
swallowed up by the Los ~ngeles T imes, just as has
happened to the ~ewport .Hatbor "ews Press and the
Costa '4esa Pllot-'ilob~ Herald.
\Ay first comment is that if it were indeed to be so, I
should like to be the f irst to knpw it. My second com-
ment is that the rumors are false, and most likely fab-
ricated by some peevish r>ublisher.
I lilce the news!)aper situation just the way it is right
noN: Just me and Otis, as I mentioned once before.
There's certainly room for him In the Harbt>r ~rea news-
paper picture.
Now don't be accusing me 'lf boastin'], but 1 can't
hel p mating a Mse count of all the own er-~bll shers
Nhom 1 have out-lasted i n these 14.1~ years oi :>ublish-
ing the C:n sign her e in the Hart>or area. I come up with
a I ist of 12 who have gone through the ordeal of own in')
and nublish ing local newspa'lers here.
That makes '1r. ~hand ler "o. 1'3 on the scene. Best
luck, Ot1s.
