Til RaT Ull OF IIFDII
A valuable lesson on what's really important for our well
being was given last week at the county supervisor's hear-
ing on the proposed development near El Toro.
The publisher of the Costa Mesa Daily Pilot said that
the Marine Air Station is a vital defense installation and
therefore its landing approach should be kept clear of a
housing development.
The attorney representing Moral Investment Co. in its
effort to go ahead with its property development replied:
"The first line of defense is not the U.S. Marine Corps;
it's the law, and the Constitution, and as soon as we for·
get that, we're In troubl e."
That sets forth the basic issue in plain language. In this
case, re-zoning is being used to infringe on the property
rights of a property owner. The proper way to preserve the
landing approach clear of housing is to purchase the pr~
perty from the owner, not to re-zone away his property
rights. • • •

gAlE -IEFOIE IT IS TIO LATE
One day there will be an awakening among the liberals,
as with a cry of anger and consternation they realize that
they have been tricked, and that they stand in deadly peril
before the most monstrous coospiracy in the history of the
world. They will s ee that the liberal establishment wh ich
controls national policy is undermining our Constitution,
our defenses, ou r self reliance, and our will to fight for
our freedom.
Th e awaken1ng can come in many ways.
Perhaps it wilt be 1n the name of humanity -perhaps
from seeing the pitiful photo of a mutilated Katanga baby,
victim of th e United NatiOns violation of Katanga's inde-
pendence, with the help of our tax dollars and official
approval from Washington.
Perhaps it wilt come from a blow to the pocketbook , as
the val ue of our spending money and ou r savings accounts
continues to drop because of the ruinous federal spend-
Ing. A pinch 1n the hoiT'e budget is something just about
everybody can understand.
May be 1t will come frol" a sense of obli gation to our
chi ldren, and ou r children's children, who deserve to in·
~erit a free and Independent and Christian nation, won so
dearly by our founding fathers.
Maybe the awakening will come from the basic drive for
self~eservation, as the grim real ity of communist take--
over comes closer to our shores.
Perhaps the lessons of history will hit home, giving
proof that the welfare state, socialism, communism-call
it what you wi II -can produce only famine, slavery and
death, and that there is abundance and liberty only where
free enterprise and Christian hetltage have loosed indi-
vidual energy and initiative.
Perhaps th e awakening will come from rMedicatlon to
Ctttlstian principles, which will reject accommodation with
~t evil of atheistic COIMIUni sm.
The lessons are clear ~d irrefutable. The danger Is
rtal, and Imminent. And time Is rumlng out. VldOry cin..
not be achieved by the present band of dedicated c:onser-
Yatins alone. Pray that the awakening tflll come In time •
