the salvage operations. The Marines finally
folded their wit~gs and stole away late In

helicopter were Capt. John Viglione of Tus-
tin, pilot; Lt. Donald Ringgold of Santa Ana,
co-pilot, and Sgt. Nathaniel Tucker of Los
Angeles, crew chief. The 'copter was on a
routine trainfng flight from the Marine Corps

Councilman Hans Lorenz does not think that It is de-
sirable to give public testimony of personal faith in the
Lord. He used the harsh word, "reprehensible," when
commenting at Monday's Newport Beach Council meeting·

Easter Week.

Mr. Lorenz is opposing the highest calling of a Christ-
ian: to preach the gospel to all people. To Mr. Lorenz, I
commend the reading of these verses from the l Oth chap-
ter of the Apostle Paul's letter to the Romans:
"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord
shall be saved.
"How then shall they call on him in whom they have
not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom
they have not heard7 and how shall they hear wi thout a
preacher?
"And how shall they preach, excl!pt they be sent? as it
is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach
the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good
things I"

.. , lOT VICTORY
The liberal scriveners are busily gi ving out with the
propaganda that Senator Barry Goldwater, "a very nice
guy," just isn't the right man for GOP presidential candi-
date. They're Quite right, from their point of view, be-
cause Barry certainly looks like a winner. They want to
promote a loser -for the Republicans.
As for me, I'm for a winner -for the GOP. Not a me-too
Republican like Rocky Rockefeller, but someone who
will give us a thane~ to vote for a conservati ve. That's
Senator Goldwater, who stirred a lot of patriotic hearts
with these words announcing his candidacy:
"I won't change my beliefs to win votes. I will offer a
choice, not an echo. This will not be an engagement of
oersonal1ties. It will be an engagement of principles.
"I've always stood for government that is limi ted and
balanced and against ever-increastng concentrations o f
authority in Washington.
"I've always stood for individual responsibility and
against regimentation. I bet ieve we must now make a
choice 1n this land and not continue drifting endlessly
down toward a time wher all of us, all of our lives, our
property, our hopes and I!Ven our prayers wi II become
just cogs in a vast government machine.
"I believe that we can win victory for freedom both at
home and abroad. And I believe that we can be strong
enough and de termined enough to win those victories
without war.
"And I bef1eve that appeasement and weakness can
only bttng war. I have asked and I will continue to ask
across th1s country: Why not vtetory for sound constitu-
tional Prtnetples in governmenP Why not victory over the
evils of commun1sm.,
"We w1 II give the Republicans, as we II as some of the
Democrats, a chance to vote for a conservative, if only
once 1n their lt ves."
