In "'Y 151 1 years of reporting on City Council meet-
ings. and other meetings of all kinds, I have not heard
a public official make a statement as insulting, i rre-
verent and uncalled--for as was spoken at last wetlc's
Counci I meeting to the new pr esident of the Harbor
Council of Churches by Councilman and former mayor
James B. Stoddard. Pastor Melvin Taylor, and the pub-
lic, deserve an expression of apology from the City
Council as assurance that such a shocking insult does
not reflect the conscience and faith of our community.

"LET US Lin UP A STANDARD"
As we honor the father of our country this Saturday,
l et us remember that above all he was a Ch risti an,
putting his trust in the Lord in all things.
In the snow and cold at Valley Forge he went down
on h1s knees to pray that God would de liver the nation.
Nhen he was elected president of the Constitutional
Convention. he opened that famous meeting wi th these
solemn words: "Let us lift up a standard to which the
wise and honest may repai r. The event 1 s in the hand
of God."
In Mt. Vernon, on the tom b of George and Martha
Washington. these words are inscri bed: "I am the re-
surrection, and the life: he that bel i eveth 1n me, though
he were dead, yet shall he I i ve: and whosoever I i veth
and belteveth tn me shall never di e." Uohn,ll:25,26.l

There is in this one, and
the reason w hy could be
important to you .....
Visitors to Pacific View Memorial Park aN> always
impressed by the dramatic view the cemetery offers and by
the tranquil peace that surrounds them here.
But soon they realize t hat there is also activity here.
Young trees are being pl anted, sections of the brown hill-
sides are turning into velvety smooth green law·ns.
And t he beautiful Ma usoleum of the Pacific is receiving
its next addition, fittingly named Lagunita Court.
Pacific View is growing faat for two main reaa<ms. First,
it is, without question, the moat beautif ul cemetery along
the Golden Coastline. But secondly, and moat important, more
and more people are purchasing memorial property before
the time of actual need.
This Ia the tl•e when j udpeeta eaa be •ade without

Most 'O f the activity at Paciflc View is to ftll the needa
and desires of prudent, far-aeeing people. May we auaeat
