There seems to be growing evidence that the freeway situa-
tion in our town Is not an open and shut cue after all. There
seems to be disagreement brewing at the state level over the
decision to bulldoze the ribbons of concrete through the
middl e of Newport Beach. Now if Newport Beach and Costa
Mesa weren't so engrossed in their ~fforts to put the tree-
way in the other's backyard, they could get together and put
up a solid front of opposition against the Illogical decision
of the Highway Commission ••. and move the freeway Inland
around the Upper Bay where i t belongs •
