As publisher of a weekly newspaper, my aid is enlisted by
the National Coun cil for Civic Responsibility for "a factual
survey on the edent of radical right harassment of the
weekly press."
I received a 2-page Questionnaire in Saturday's mail , along
with a letter which suted, among other remarks: "There
nave been numerous reports that extremist organ izations are
exerting pteswres on newspapers in a continuing effort to
suppress those who SQeak out ill opposition to them. Such
coercion has been brought to bear in large measure on week-

citizens may secure accurate and unbiased re ports of on-

The Questionnaire asked H members of "ractical right ex-

The head of this National Council, Arthu r Larson, the ori-

to be di sappointed at my ans wers, because l had to say "no,''
except fo r mention of letters to the editor and the mailing
of documentary evidenc e from cons ervatives.
I noted that Mr. La rson had neglected completely the pos-

legal a ction as result of articles critical of UNESCO, Uni ted

I a dd ed also a notation that the only evidence of economic
pressure has been cancellation of subsrriptions for critt·

The "factual " natu re 'Jf the Questionnaire can be JUdged

I couldn't pass that by Nlthout a comm ent: ''This is a

Further proof came 1n an other question: "Has there been a

trons "
You may not have t1""r to dtgest the ent1 re boolc, but try at
least the first 2 chapters, and the f1nal chapter
Mr Grrffin, obviOusl y a dilagent and parnstakang researcher,
wr ites with restrained and tight-lipped anger about the record
of United Nations action tn world affairs. "The Fearful
Master," as Cong ressman J ames Utt says tn the tntroduc-
tion, "sets forth the double standard which guides the UN
through 1t s devious and treacherous oath to ward world do-
mination .. .I prayerfu ll y hope that •t is not yet too late to
awaken the American publtc."
The following rema rks, from the final chapter, point out
the fallacy of upholding the UN as an instrument of pe ace
and freedom:
"How on earth can an organization promote peace 1n th e
world when s trategically entrenched withtn it is the most
aggressive peac ~destroying force the world has ever seen?
.•. There can be no peace without order; there can be no
order without justice; and there can be no justice when the
criminal direc ts the police and judges his own trial. That Is
why, since the UN was created suppos edly to prevent the
rise of another world--grasping tyrannical power like Nulsm,
the eQually ruth I ess and blooG-thi rs ty regime of international
communism has spread at a fantastic pace and has massa-
cred ind ens laved more people, broken more fam ilies, d~
stroyed more homes and conQuered more land than Hitler
even came close to doing. If that is our last best hope for
puce, we have lost 111 semblance o.f sanity ."

In 1940 the State Legislature offered for your accep-
tance or rej ection a Fair Employment Practic es Act.
You rej ected this Act in the Fall election by over a
MILLION VOTE MARGIN! In 195'1,Pat Brown, contemp-
tuously disregarding your previous mandate, whipped
the Legislature into passing this SAME BILL! In 1901
Governor Brown and "Big Daddy11 Unruh coerced the
Legislature into passingthe"Unruh Civi l Rights Act."
This odious l aw requ ires every business establish-
ment of whatsoever nature (doctors, dentt sts, lawyers
•ncl uded) to render "services" to people of another
race . The oenalty fo r refusal is an automatic forfeiture
of \250.00 to the person complaining EVEN THOUGH
THAT PERSON 15 NOT DAMAGED BY THE REFU-
SAL'
In 1963 "Brown and company" passed the Rumford
Act. Under this l aw, you nome or apartment-owners
MUST SELL OR RENT YOUR PROPERTIES TO
PEOPLE YOU MIGHT NOT PERSONALLY WISH TO
,ELL OR LEASE TO. You have no choice. You are
SUbJect to payment of a $500 FORFEITURE TO THE
Pf RSO N YOU REFUSED. The state provides the
ol atnti ff an attorney wi thout cost. You have to hire
your own attorney to defend yourself'
The Fair Employment Commission enforces both of
these unconsctonable l aws.
Under the Rumford Act tt is a CRIME for you TO
EVEN INQUI RE as to the race. color, re ligton or na-
tional ancestry of a person seelcing to buy your home
or rent your apartment. The United States Constitution
guarantees us the right of free speech.
The United Stat es Constitution and the California
Constitution reserve to ALL citizens the right to own
property, freedom from involuntary servi tude, and the
right of free speech. Both the Unruh and Rumford
Acts mate a mockery of these rights.
Pat Brown whines that he wants to get the Negroes
out of the"ghettoes." To which we say, Rubbish! The
facts are that Negroes have "taken over" some of
the finest residential areas of Los Angeles, including
parts of the Wilshire District. The same situation
exists throughout the Stat e.
In San Francisco an apartment owner was ordered to
forfeit $1,250 to a (colored) complainant. In Los An-
geles a pflysician was ordered to pay a S500 forfeiture
to a complalnanL
Passage of Proposition 14 will annul these vicious
laws and return to you the sacred freedom of choice
as to whom you wish to sell or rent your property. We
need your financial help, no matter how small, to out
over Proposition 14. Please send remittances to:
