If we think negative thoughts it ,is because we WANT to think negative thoughts. As human beings, and blessed with. o God-given ability, we have the power to change our thoughts. We have the power to concentrate only on the success, or relief from our fears, that we wont to achieve. By practicing the thinking of con- fident thoughts, and making it o dominat ing habit, we con develop such o strong sense of capacity that regardless of what diffi- culties arise, we wi II be able to overcome them. The mind always tries to complete 'what it pictures. If we fi II our minds with positive thoughts, ond immediately replace a negative one with o fresh positive thought, the chOnge in our lives con be little short of miraculous. Ask God for ony right thing and don't doubt. Doubt closes th"e _power flow . Faith opens it. The power of faith ond o positive mental attitude is so tre- mendous that there is nothing Alm ighty God cannot do for us, with us, or through us if we let Him channel His power throug_h our minds. "I con do oil things through Christ wh ich strengtl)eneth me ." (Phil. 4:13) Do You N-eed a, New Heart? By Rev. Robert C. But who.o hearkeneth unto Me &ball <twell ufely, and ahall be quiet from fear of evil." , ' The judgments thai are aoon to come on lhe earth are deteribed in thia pa&Nge by lhete worda: calamity, fear, de&alation, diatre.e. destruction, whirlwind and ansuish. This is a very ltriking paUage for u1 today, because we see these things taking shape be. lore our eyes. If ever there was a time when the WC)rld was facing !rouble of a colo1111l character, it is today; and th~ words were written 10 many hundreds of yetrs aso {or the vety days in which we live and for the time that is coming upon, the world. The word "whirlwind" here is used to describe ihe ruahing of a drslructive wind. If you study the word in the Bible. you will find it there about thirty timrs, and used in con· nection with eventa to take place at the end of this age. What is a whirlwind ? It i1 a column of air that whirls round and round with an inWard spiral motion. There is an upward cur· rent in the center that rise~ up in rapid pro· gressive motion. A big whirlwind cau&et ~,m· men.se dl'$truction. It moves forward in a circle and as it moves forward, the second part of the cird~ will cause a second storm. That is to say, there will be two parts in the whirl- wind : ths-first part, then a lull. and then the second part, which will CC)me with far greater force lhan the fint. Why ill it that the word .. whirlwind .. is uaed so often in Scripture? It is u~l tint· of all to show that the trouble at the e nd of this age come& in two parts: and that the s~ond part is th!! most serious. As God uses this word in connection with the end of the world, we may expect a won · derful upward movement. We have seen the momentum of a sm1ll whirlwind in the street again and again. The wind hu rushed a num· her of le,avrs together and around and then caught them up..ioto. ai.r.,'J:\wt1'!'9rd is uacd becau.e the Lord's peopk are ao~HP to &Mir Lord ancl MaMef, bec'a\li.e' ttie (.C)ra is going to de.cend at this time of trouble and terrible tunnoil in the world. and He is going to fetch Hie people out of it and up to Himeelf. aa::ord- ingto I Thess.4 :13-18. Prov. I :33 it a picture of the safet y of the Lord's people when the Lord hae come: to take them out of it all, for He says, "Who.o hearkeneth unto Me shall dwell safely, and 1hall be quiet from fear of evil." h is very striking to remember th at Elijah, who never died. was caught up to heaven in a whirlwind. Why did that happen? I believe becaute God wanted us to aee the connection between the whirlwind and the takinp: away from lhis earth of His prepared people in 1 moment o{ time ; for what God did for Elijah He can do for all His people who are living for Him; and the miracle of the taking away of God'• people from this e1rth ia surely get· ting~very near! ? ?
