lliiS IS CARRYING PROTECTIOII TOO FAR
"~ig brother" insistence on w<itCffin g over every con-
cern in our lives just about reaches its limi t of ab surdity
when a simple cross-intersection of 2 s treets is rejected
as being too dangerous. Th is particular "big brother" act
was perpetr at ed Monday even ing, and the victim of th e
super com pass ion was the newes t Lusk deve lopment in
Harbor View Hills.
William Lu s k was understandably irked at the Ci ty Coun-
cil decision, wh ich requires a s treet alignment change in
ord er to avoid a cross-intersectiort. It is not jus t a change
on pa per; it means tearing out a section of already com-
pl eted s treet -at an expense of $8,000 to $10,000 to the
devel oper. Mr . lus k rightly poi nted out that the private
planners in vo lved are emin ently Qualifi ed -the Irvine Co,
planning department; ~aub, 13e in, Frost & Ass ociates:
and the Lusk firm itsel f. CJu t the Coun ci l took instead the
advic e of public planners, wh o never have to s uffer finan-
cial con sequences for their planning of other peoples'
property.
'3ig brother care for our well be ing will continue to gtow
with big govern ment, until there will be noth ing left to
worry about, except the loss of freedom itself.

and believes it, he will surely be

~.\t mountain of Daniel l :if'•Nnd. 15
mean.
A. A mountain in &ripture is often
a figure or speech for a kingdom and
the Word of God hu rtferred to
Christ as ··a Stone." Moses 1mote the
rock in the wilderness and the Is-
r~lites drank from the stream that
issued forth, Paul, referring to the
typical sirnificance of this event,
tells us in plain words, "That Rock
was Christ" <I Cor. 10:4). Isaiah
predicted that He would be "smit-
ten of God and afflicted" for our sins
f ba. 53 :4 ). The Psalmist prophe·
sied. "The 11tone which the builders
refuMd is become t.he headstone of
the corner'' ( Psa. 118 : 22) and the
Lord Jesu!! applied theM words to
Himself (Matt. 21 :42). He became
t he foundation stone of the church
(Matt. 16 :18; Rom. 9 :32, 33; I Cor.
3:11 ; I Pet. 2 :4-8).
In the verses referred to. Christ
u the smiting stone, will put an end
to Gentile world power wh,en He
comes in glory to reign. Christ Him-
self is "the stone cut out without
hand11." This will be a work of God,
not of man. His millennial kingdom,
u a "great mountain'' shllll till "the
whol e earth." Isaiah says of thill
kingdom : "They shall not burt nor
destroy in all my holy mountain:
for the earth shall be full of the
knowledae of the Lord u the waten
cover the Ma" (lu. 11 :9).

"Everything in One Beautiful Ploce"
Because the funeral and burial center concept
eliminates the need for processions tluough
heavy traffic on overcrowded highways, family
and friends alike may now pay their full re·
spects by attending the bu ri al service, as well
as the chapel service, all at one beautiful place ,
at less cost and more convenience.
