WHAl WOULD THEY CHOOSE OVER U.S.?
The U. S. Olympic Comm ittee acted properly In
suspending the 2 Negro athletes tor their display of
disloyalty and disrespect to our Star Spangled Banner
at the Mexico City games last week.
What a preposterous charge It Is to accuse the u. s. of racial injustice In fron't of citizens of other
lands, rnany of whom enJoy practically no freedcrn at
all. If we were to start a collection for one-,way tick·
ets, which country would these 2 u. S. Olympic stars
choose in preference to our free America"?

SPEAK OUl -IF YOU CARE
Concerned citizens, who expect standards of
decency and morality to be observed on our campuses,
should make their opinions known to Chancellor
Daniel 41drlch at UC Irvine, also to the UC ~card of
Regents, and to the .UC president, and to Governor
Reagan.
It is shocking to read that the head of our univer·
sity at Irvine condones and defends the Invitation
that allowed the Slack Panther rac ist, Eldridge Clea-
ver, to spew out his scurrilous and obscene ravings
on th e UCI cam pu s.Obscenlty, acc ording to Charrcet-
lor Aldri ch, is a problem of the generation gap. He
says, "What we consider obscene, arising out of our
Judae~Christian heritage and its concem about ref-
erences to th e body and to sporting in the bedroom,
stlldents don't think obscene." What an example of
a dult leadership to set up before impress ionable
youth! Vfnat Mr. Aldrich is saying is that all morality
is relative, and that there are no basic or lasting
s tandards fo r mora l conduct. In ottler words, God Is
truly dead, and the 9ible is to be set aside in favor
of ''situational ethics.';
Those of you who believe otherwise, who hold
fa s ttothegreat moral truths, let your voice be heard.

AN ARGUMENl CONCERNING NO.9
I received a mighty pow erful argument last week
on the Watson ta x limitation proposition - -No. 9
on the Nov. 5 ballot. This convincer is my tax bill,
arriving not so very long after I had finished paying
for the la s t back·breaking tax burden.
f.Jew s re leases s ee m to tell us that just about
everybody is against No.9--exc ept maybe the
heavy laden pr operty taxpayer, who probably has not
been heard from. The No. q foes are giving out with
the scare talk about shifting the tax burden; they
seem not to have caught on to the message that It is
not a tax shift that's needed, but a drastic cut in the
ruinous public spending. Small business, particularly,
is figtlting for its very li fe against what is the real
tax trap --the ever·increaslng tax spiral , which Is
causing an increasing number of bankruptcies and
foreclosures .

Candidates--for lower offices .a.s well as for
the PraideDc:y--nearly bump into each otber
as they lean over bac:kwards to prove they love
all the poor peopte. No sooner hu a woukt-be
president, or senator. or conaressman pkdaed
to save 10me of the taxpayera' money, thao •
tho\und voices attock him for starvina the
poor. No politician wantsflo have thai kind of

The Lord Jesus Chrilt it comint asain to
earth to take the rein.a of f!;Ovetnment and
punilh His foes. The prominence given to this
great aubject in Scripture is really remarkable.
More apace ia siven to it than to the doctrine
of atonement. Of the 27 bOob in tbe New
Teetament all but four refer to it. One out of
every 25 nraes in the New Teetarnent ~fere
to the Second Comint Entire chapters, euch
as Man. 24. and 25; uke 21; Mark 13, are
devoted to il. Whole boob such u I and 2
Thess. and Revelation have this u their theme.
Again and again we are urged to wetch and
be ready, for the Lord cometh. And yet. in the
majority of churche~ today this teachins t.
not given the place and prominence that is
given to it in the New Testament. Many pulpits
are silent on the subject. Great numbers of
Christians are wholl y iJ!norant of it. No won-
der so many ChriMians today are sickly, weak
and inconsistent.
Much that is preached and held today baa
little relation to the faith. Falee doctrine hu
been added lo the Go.pel or hu repllleed it.
Perversions or Chri.tianity abouDd and in-
crease. Falte lleCta multiply. The Son of Man

Every once in a while you
might get a call from some.
one who's sellingsomethina
over the telephone. Moet
or these callers are consid-
erate. But if you've ever
heard from a salesman who
couldn't take your polite
no', for an answer, you
know it can be annoying.
Well, the thing to do then is
simply hang up. Ir the calls
continue, let us know. We
want your phone to be a
convenience, not a nuisanee.
. . .
Maybe you've beep surprised to hear your Informa-
tion operator answering lately in a new way-"Di-
rectory Assistance." And maybe you've wondered
why the change. It's just this: "Directory Assistance"
actually is a better description of her job, which is to
help you find a number that isn't in your phone book.
And here's a helpful hint: Jot down the number next
time you have to cali"Directory Assistance" for help.
You'll have it handy when you want it, and sav~ mak-
ing two calls again when one will do.
