-nty Wonl Mve 1 hid in my hurt that 1 mtpt not sin aplnst n ..... (Pu.
11.11).
"'Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God." After we Nve
been tMen into the family of God through the new birth, then as His children we
must feed continuously on the living Word, that we may a:row in grace and in the
l..nowl~ of our lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. A stunted or dwarfed person Is
to be prtied. How many dwarfed and stunted Christians we meet in life. All be-
c.use of their neglect of daily feed ing upon Him the "Bread of life."
The Word of God has a cleansine; and purifyina effect upon the life of the
Christian. We are born aaain through rts instrumentality as it rs used by the Holy
Spirit "Born again not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the Word of
God, wh ich liveth and abideth for~er" (I Peter 1:23).
Jesus said to His disciples, "Now ye are clean through the Word which I have
spoken unto you" (John 15:3).
Clunliness of body is important; but cleanliness of heart and mind Is infinite-
ly more important. If the heart Is clean, the thousht li fe will be clean and our
actions. our words will be only such as will please ou r l ord and Saviour and maa-
nify Him on earth.
Our cry should be, "Cleanse thoo me from seaet sin." It is possible for some
SINIII sin left unjudged in the Christian's life, to be fostered and cherished, until
1t finally has taken such root that it corrupts the life. "As a man thinketh so is
he." Is 11 not tragic and deplorable to find· Christians feed ins upon cheap, trashy
no¥els, and even obscene sex stOf'ies whiCh fill so ma ny popular mquines of
the «My. When the mind and heart, the storehouse of the 5001, are filled with such
prbliae, What can be expected but the uniCHetv siaht of a Qtnal, flt:lhly, lustful
Ctvist1an, walk ing in the flesh and not in the Spirit.
"They that ere Chrisrs have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
If w live in the Spirit let us also walk in the Spirit" "He that soweth to his
flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption: but he that sowrlh to the spirit shall of
the Spirit reap life everlasting" (Gal. 5:24, 25: 6:8).
Are you, Christian, filling your heart and mind with the world's sewaae? No
wonder you are defeated in your daily li fe! Naturally you lack joy and pe1ee wtlich
come from abid ing in Him. Put those things from you. Shun them as a pique.
Cheap, vile love stories will rob you of yoor desire to feed on Him in the Word.
The secret of DAILY VICTORY is given us by Jesus.-"ABIDE IN ME."
If the heart. the well spring of life is dirty, foul and bejrimed, then we be-
ho'd a shattered, seared, unwholesome pel'50nality.
Keep, 0 Christian, your heart, your mind 'd ean through daily feastina and
feedina on the cleansing. purifying Word of God.
Dltvid gave us the key to victory several thousand years ago, when he said,
"Thy Word have I hid in mine heart that I might not sin apinst Thee" (Pt.a. 11~11).
Make the Bible your daily companion and it will amaze you the strensth, joy and
peace and inner calm of soul that will be imparted to you.
Young woman, young man. fac ing divers temptations wh ich hive beset ~
before and behind, do you want v:ctory over sin? Do you lonJ for a d un life?
Often temptation has overcome you to leave you weak, trembling. broken hearted
ever your defeat. let me impart God's way of victory, His secret of success, of vtc-
tory in the Chm t•an life.
''Wherewithal shall a young ma n cleanse his way? Do you yeern for clean
thou~hts and actions and heaven's ;oy in your soul? Then heed the Holy Ghost
inspired answer. "By taking heed thereto accOf'ding to thy Word,. (Psa. 119:9). That
i!t God's remedy for a slothful disobedient, and dishonoring Christian life.
Make It a daily habit to feed on God's Word and to seek His face in secret
communion. Bible reading and prayer are the saints most effectiw weapons to
counteract the f1ery darts of Satan.
The abiding l1fe, "In Me." is the clean l1fe. the fru itful lite, the prayer answer-
ed life. which brings glory to the Father, "let your light so shine before men that
they may see your good worils, and slor1fy your Father which is in heaven"
(Matt. 5:16).
When we are in Him, 1n Christ. pra1se His holy Name, we are ~WW creatures.
new creations. "Old things have passed away, behold all things are become new."
How is this brought about. th1s new life in Him? As already mentioned. the Holy
Spirit uses the WOf'd of God in Qu ic kening and regenerating power.
When the Spirit of God moved upon the water of the deep, upon a ruined,
marred creation, we then see the beauties of a new creation as it came from the
hands of our creatOf' God. There came a day, when the Spirit of God moved upon
my heart. your heart, to and behold. these marred sinful beinas, {you and me) then,
as we heeded the Word of God, received and believed it, became new cf'Niures (I
new creation) in Him.
Then as new creatures 10 Chr•sl, seated in heavenly places even now, may we
not brin& shame, dishonor and disgrace to his Holy Name by our indifferent, car&-
leS;S cama! li~e. The ftesht1 life is bri?4Jght about by our neglect of prayer and the
dilly meclltat1on and feedmg upon H1m. May the words of this sona be1our Pf'8)'· f'r daily, "let the beauty of Jesus be seen in me,

WHAT WILL HAPPEN?

the voiCe of the Archa"8el: the trump ~od.
It may be that the!e three bluta are rtlated to
those participating in the Rapture. The shout
of the Lord may call the dead in Chriat. Aa
His commanding voice reached Luarua in his
grave, so the saved dead will respond en matae
to Chriat's authoritative voice u the Resurrec-
tion and the Life. The voice of the Archangel m'J be connected with thoae '1who are alive
an remain," while the trump of God may
summon the dead raised and lbe living chan1ed
to meet the Saviour. With the blowing of the
silver trumpet. in Num. 10, there were three
bluta guiding the journeying of the laraelitea.
The firtt and ~econd blasb gathered the tribe.,
while the third blut commanded lhe host to
much forward.
Only a particular eection of the dead will
ariae at firat-the dead in Chriat. The rest of
the de.d, the wicked dead, will remain in their
gravea until the Great White Throne, when all
the remaining dead muat be raised for the
ratification of their condemnation ... And I saw
the dead, small and great. atand before God"
!Rev. 20:12). Here, then, is a soul-comforting
hope, our holy, happy dead are lo rite again.
Death will not keep ita prey. Chriat will eome

At present, Californl.a la-.v Is

However, a bill intrOduced at
this year's session of the legis-

education compulsory in all
schOols throughtout the state··

Because sex educ.ation ill-1
valves the most intimate and
personal aspects or family ll re,
ond the fundamental religious
convictions of family members,
compulsion of children against
the will or their parents, in this
area above all. should be ab-
solutely reJected in a tree soci-

many forces tending to break~
the family and drive wedges
between parents and children.
Next year in Sacramento 1
will introduce legislation to
prollibit any public school from
ma.king sex education com.

course or as a portion of any
other course which is required.
Because of my ftrm belleflQ

THE THANKSGIVING STORY was given at
the Nov. 26 meeting Of the Corona del Mar
Kiwanis Club by the Rev, James Stewart Of
the University United Methodist Church of
University Park, shown here at left with
Mike Manahan, chairman of the support of
churches committee of the club. Mr.
Stewart said that Thanksgiving day
originally had been a s ort of politlcai,
festive holiday for the early American
settler s, but that through th e years the
day had become an occasion for religious
observance. "We should be thankful for
freedom, family, friends and for our Indi-
vidual p rivilege to live in an exciting age,"
