The Christian concept of equality is spiritual.
lr has nothing to do wi th income, health, or
en vironment. It sim ply gi ves a little, imperfect
man, bo rn in si n, an individual , personal relation-
shi p with GoJ -equal to that of any other man
on earth. In short, Christianity exalts individual·
ism. ~nessing the importance and exclusive de-
pend ence on God and self of the human in-
d ividua l.
The stren, gth and culture of America, built on
faith in Jesus Christ, will start degenerating when
Americans no longer hold aloft the central tenet
of Chri stian fa ith -namely, that the human indi-
vidual (not the mtn.re r or IOCifly, but the indi1Jid·
ual) is a d ivinely important being, becau"" God
sent His onl y begotten Son into the world to make
a blood atonement for the sins of individuals.
The fundamemal d octrine of ChriJ tianity iJ that
impufea mt~n can be wved only by the grace of
/«UJ ChriJI .
People who have for a long time -out of
ignorance, or indifference, or something -fol ·
lowed the leadership of misguided men, into a
deadend o f fru stration and doubt and fear, are
now beginning to search for the unsearchable
riches of Christ.
It came upon the midnight clear. As the white
flocks lay sleeping al oog the hills of Judea, Christ
was born.
And there were in the same country shepherds
abiding in the field , keeping watch over their Bock
by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord ame
upon them , and the glory of the Lord shone round
about them; and they were 50re afnid.
And the angel .uld unto them:

Consider the varied people a nd objects wanted
for the occasion ; the various events which had to
take place ; and the exact timing needed to brinl in
the Christmas event. Only one conclusion is possi-
ble. Pe rfect wisdom as well as unlimited power
were essential for every act to take place with the
precision required. Only God could bring about the
wonder of Christmas for He alone knows how it
co uld be done; only He could speak to men and
urge them to fulfill His will, even though they did
not know they we re doing it. Using only ordinary
and extr aordinary events, God alone could work
out such far-reaching and significant purposes.
Also. only God could cause the events to coincide
in time.
As we watch God at work at Christmas, we see
not only His wisdom and power. We also see that
His choice was so different from what many people
would have expected. God did not choou a regal
s~tting for .J esus' birth; instead He was born in a
stable. The place had none of the alamour of the
Christmas card picture; it waa a ecene of poverty,
squalor and filth. Thriul'h Jesus was rich, .. yet for
your sakes he became poor, that ye throurh hie
