• MEMO FOR PUBLICITY WRITERS
There is a distressing trend toward de-
personalizing people in publicity stories.
To a home town newspaper, such as the
Ensign, people are more important than
anybody, and more interesting. But they
are "un-people" if they are not adequate-
ly identified. More and more news stories
sent to newspaper editors list indi...tduals
merely as a John Doe or as a 'Jane Doe,
with no information as to the place of
residence, and very little else of import-
ance. Please let it be known that the
characters in the news releases are real,
live people, with a place to live in, and
also a place to work in, and other facts
of home town news value. • • •
• WE CAN HALT THE MORAL DECLINE
Signs of moral decline are evident in
the losing battle agalnst nudity of so-
called entertainers in public bars. First
it was topless. Then came the bottomless.
From Los Angeles come reports of audi-
tions for the ultimate in obscenity: live ' . performance of the sex act in public.
This shocking plunge into the depths of
sin has followed court rulings that live
performers do not come under the defi-
nition of obscenity. Thus the courts "for-
give" sin, assuming a prerogative that
belongs only to the Lord, and by judicial
decree our nation is hastened on the road
to moral bankruptcy and ultimate down-
fall, unless there is a turning away from
these wicked ways.
Decency still does rule the lives of
most of us. What we can do is to vote
with our feet, by staying away from the
dens of iniquity, and with our mouth, by
urging others to do likewise, for we know
that God cannot be mocked, aod there
there will be an ultimate accounting for
evil.

Hell stands gaping with open mouth at the end. The end o f aJI C reation Ia
judgement, and judgement meant dlacrilninatlon. or selection, or distinction.
The very meaning of judgement Is that some shall be taken and some left.
There are many today who, supposing themselves Christians. rt'ject any
thoughts of Hell and maintain that they refuse to believe Jesus would ever let
anyone surfer eternal damnation. They are encouraged in such weak and silly
no tions by the devll's conspl..-atort a nd revolutionaries who kno w full well that
1f they can pull down the fear or Hell they carry with it the hope of Heaven
:-.Jotice here it is Jesus who teaches us of the Last Judgement; it is the
.Judgement over which He Himself will preside: and it is He who paints Hell
in terms of nre and brimstone-"everlasting fire.~
~otice also the Gospel rule by which all men are to be judged. It !11 upon
the dt.-eds of the body. This is not to say we are justified by works. or by works
of the law. Were such the standard o r judgement. none wo uld even be brought
to trial. We stand condemned ah·eady. But since J esus C hrist has purchased to
himself a ll mankind by His o wn payment in His own blood for the s ins of all.
He now brings every man +o a nswer for how he has managed under his nt'w

J('SIJS. statement is o~ of the most mi!iunderstnod
passages in thf.-Rihle. It is commonly supposed that
Christ forbids us to judge. Nothing could he further

Christ wants all people to judge -to judge things.

nnt worth his §alt. lie is not even a ChrUtian. Chris·

A mahtred Christian will jud(te the papcrhad.s hf•

literature, nor waste time on inane: TV programs nor
sing about Christ in a rollicking, jaued up manner.
as thoughtless Christiaru: do today. He will judge.
But, wmeboUy demurs, of course a person must
judge io that .sen.te. But Christ meant you ought
not to judge people. either In institutions or indi-

Yet , that is not true either.
He must iudge a school that pract:ioes riiCial dis-

He must judge preachers, for even "Satan disguises

In order to fulfill this command, it is necessary &nt
of all to judge whether someone is a dog or a pig.
or not. Some people are.
Later on, he commands his followers to beware of
faiJ>e prophets who come dressed up like sheep but
really are ravenous wolves (7:15). It is obvious that
in order to be on our guard against evil prophets,
we must judge people. It is even necessary to judge
if they are true or false, that i.s, if they are Christims
or not. And jesus even goes on to give a standard
to use in judging. He says that a perwn~ should look
at their fruJts and then he will know (7:16).
In other words, the Bible does not for-bid us to
judge -oeither things nor instituti001 nor people. On
the contrary, its attitude is: Use your bead; doo't foi-
l~-the crowd; judge what is right and wronc in
your own actions •nd 'n the actions of othert: and
do not join in with or wist those who have evtl goals.

Ever since Benjamin Franklin becan pub-
liahing bio almanac in 1732, (Uidebookl in
one form or another have been popular m
America. Today there are manuals and
directories for almost anything you w&Dt
to do. Probably the best known guidebook
though is the Yellow Pages of your tele~
phone book. And why not? It's just about
the most complete listing of nearly every
kind of product and service available in
your area. So whatever you're trying to
find, jUBt remember there'll nowhere you
can find help faster than in the Yellow Pages.
To focus attention on
the fight against deaf-
ness. May has been de-
clared "Hearing and
Speech Month." The
Bell System has ape·
cia! equipment and
aervices to help people
who have diffic ulty us·

may be able to help
someone you know .
