MORE SUPPORT FOR BADHAM BILL
The City Council oi Newport Beach is
to be highly commended for the resolu-
tion adopted Monday evening, strongly
supporting the Badham bill to eliminate
the coastal freeway route from our city.
This unequivocal stand iS in harmony
with the virtually unanimous desire of
the citizens of our community,
Almost all of the neighborhood civic
associations have also gone on record
opposing the coastal route and favoring
the Badham bill. Now we should hear
from the Newport Harbor Chamber of
Commerce and from the Corona del Mar
Chamber of Commerce, whose commit-
ment to community service and wellare
should put them on record against the
destruction and suffering that the free-
way would bring.
With such unanimity of concerned op-
inion on the home front, the Badharn bill
should be reported out favorably by the
state Senate transportation committee,
and the Senate then should follow the
example of the Assembly by giving an
•>Verwhelming vote of approval to this
important piece of legislation.

Western Electric helps us do it.
Who talks the moat? Women, you'd prob-
ably say. And that may be true, but as a
nation, the United States has taken the
lead as the most talkative country. Ac-
cording to the latest statistics, Americans
averaged 701 telephone conversations a
year per person, compared to 692.9 for
Canadians, who had led since 1951.
What do I do if a salesman
on the telephone won't take
"no" for an answer?
Tell him politely, but firmlr.
that you're not interested m
what he's selling. If he per·
sists, simply hang up. If a
caller continues to bother
you, let us lmow about it. We
want your phone to be a con-
venience not an annoyance.

Second : The chastisement of Israel, though pro-
longed a.nd severe, is but temporary. ec.uirmatory
Scripture -Isaiah 54 :7-9, ''For a small moment
have J forsaken thee; but with great mercies will I
gather thee. In a little wrath I hid my face from
thee for a moment; but with everlastwg kindoeu
will I have mercy on thee, saitb the Lord thy Re-
deemer. For th1s is as the waters of Noah unto me:
for as I have sworn 1hat tht waters of Noah should
no more go over the earth; so have [ swom that I
would not be wroth with thee, nor rebuke thee."
That is to say, that the temporary rejec:tioo of
Israel by Jehovah is likened unto the temporary de-
luge of the fiood, and that as truly u the waters of
Noah's 6ood subsided, so surdy will God'a rejection
of Israel pa..ss over.
'tlurd : God will never cast off His people forever.
Confirmatory Scripture-Jeremiah 31~7 : "Thus
sa.lth the Lord; if h'taven above c:an be maaured,'
and the {ound.ltions of the earth seardled out be-
ne.tth, J wiU also cast off all the seed of brad for
all that they have done, sa.ith the Lord."
W~n the amillennia.lists have measured the im-
mea.suuble Heavens and penetrated with impene-
trable foundations of the earth, then saith the: Lord
they can talk with some degree of eonfidcot assur-
ance about thi=:re being "no future for hrad."
Fourth : The covenant made with David, by which
a ruling posterity was assured to him, is irrefutable.
Confirmatory Scripture -Jeremiah 33:20, 21 :
•·Thus s.aith the Lord; If ye can break my covenant
of the day, and my covenant of the night, and that
there should not be day and night in their sea.son;
then IT'ay also my covenant be broken with Da.vid
my servant, that he should not have a son to reign
upon h.is throne; and with the Lcvites the priests,
my ministers."
When the amille.nialists C.llt say to the night, "'Be
stayed .1nd light shall continue," and can IllY to the
rising sun. "Remain seated and darkness shall c:J~Ver
Let us look again at Isaiah II :II, 12 : "And it
shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord lha11
set his hand again the second time to recover the
remnant of his people, which shall be ldt, from
As5yri.t, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and
from Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and
from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea.. And
he shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall
assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together
the dispersed of Judah from the four comers of
the earth."
Again let us see Jeremiah 2J :S--8 : "Behold, the
days come, saith the Lord, that J will rai~ unto
David a righteous Branch, and a. King shall reign
and prosper, and' shall execute judgment and justice
in the earth. In his d.tys Judah shall be Javed, .tnd
I-srael shall dwell safdy: and this is his name where.
by he shall be called, The Lord Our Righteousness.
Therd-ore., behold, the days come, saith the Lord.
that they shall no more sa.y, The Lord liveth, which
brought up the children of Israel out of the land' of
Egypt ; but, The Lord liveth which brought up
and which led the seed of the House of
Isnel out of the oorth country, and f rcm .U mun-

The innumerable stars and the immeasurable sand

people of lsnc.l will be literally fulfilled. Confirma-
tory Scripture -This fact iJ confi~ by the
Lite~ of the jflllputtls which have fallen upon
the land and the ~e. No "spiritualiur" will deny
the literalness of the judgments which have f.tUen

light by day, aod the ordioances of the moon and
of the: stars for .1 light by night, which divideth the
sea when the wave. thereof roar; .. , if those or-
dinances . depart from befort me, saith the Lord,
then the xed of land also 'lhal1 cease hom being:
a natioo before me for n-er."'
God says tbol the rqulatlty of U.. planetary and
tidal motioo of tbe matuia.l universe are onJy
equalled by the cxmti:oajty of the national existence
of Urad. .
Let u.s turn to Luke 1 :31-JJ and stt -.hen this
··spiritua1izinc" "-J' would naturally lead us. ThiJ
Scripture reads u follows, "Anll. behold, tmu shalt
conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a 1011, and'
shalt call his 1W11C Jenu. He shall "be. crut, and
shall be called the Son of the Higbeot ' 1M the
Lord God shall give unto him the t.brQIP.e: of his
father David ; and be sbal1 ~ over ~bouse of Jacob for ever, a.nd of biJ kiiJcdom there shall be no
end.'' ~
Now the premilleonialista and the amiUenialists
agree (providing they art orthodox) aa to the lit-
eralness of the 6n:t lin itana. The lut two itcms,
however, the ami.llemialist te.llJ us must be "spir-
itualized." They intcpret the enti~ puaace u foJ..

an average
of only 56~ a week
more in utility bills, you
can have the comfort of an all-
electric Medallion Home. Con-
venient living at your fingertips .
Just as it will be in the future.
The cost of electricity for the
average all-electric Medallion Home
is only 56t a week more than the cost
of both gas and electricity for the
typical home using gas. This was
established in a survey of more than
8,000 homes. Bills were typical of a
family of four living in a 3-bedroom
home. Half the homes surveyed
were all-electric Medallion Homes,
where everything was run by electric-
ity-no gas. Electric cooking. Elec-
tric heating. Electric water heaters.
II I
The other half of the homes surveyed
used gas. Here are the findings :
