caution residential property owners in the
audience that they too had a stake In our
fight to flave our business property, The

Fighters' stand on the crucial freeway
e lection. Counterbalancing the resent-
ment and anger was the appreciation for
the Ensign's long fight to keep the free-
way out of our city and for accurate re-
porting of the news of the long campaign.
We received considerable amount of
praise here at the Ensign office for our
editorial support for the vic torious free-
way fight, and for Ensign reporting, and
we also heard many angr y comments about
the way that the stor y has been handled
in the editorial offi ces of that Los Ange-
les Times-owned newspaper in Costa
Mesa ..
Quite a few objectors asked, "What can
we do ?" The answer goes without saying
--so I'll say It: Support your only loc-
ally owned and l ocally operated news-
paper, the Newport Harbor Ensign. Our
Harbor Area needs a strong local news-
paper, beholden to no outside interests,
dedicated to the weUare of the local
community, acquainted with local prob-
lems and needs, and willing to take ac-
tion a ccordingly. Below is a suggestion
to help you translate your praise Into
concrete support of the Ensign.
