HAVE A
WITH ALL THE FAMILY--AND
You've got a 3-day holiday week-end coming up
--but it's a very dangerous holiday. Here's an
idea for making it a lot safer. Stay off the free-
ways and spend a weekend at home with the fam-
ily and, while you're home, make home a prettier
place by turning the weekend into a family paint-
ing .party. Right now, while it's cool and foggy,
is the time to apply latex house paint. We've got
a fresh supply of the best you can buy --Colony ,
latex house paints. Come in and stock up, then get
everybody together --Mom, Dad, Grandma, and
all the kids. (Don't let the dog get his tail in the
paint bucket.) Every Memorial Day weekend, too
many American families end up in the cemetery.
That's a bad place for a family reunion. Spend
yours at home this Memorial Day weekend. Happy
painting! AL FORGIT

.ni~ht think that the apostle would
have drawn the curtain of concealment
over the squalor of iniquity and de-

indred it is a shame to speak of ~

Q . S;~n Die-go, C~lif. "Where did
Satan and his angefs go when God
threw them out of heaven r"
A. The career of S.ltan is quite fully
md1cated 10 the Bible. He is the
arch enemy of the Almighty and
~eeks to keep man from the free·
dom he can ony find 1n Christ. The
very word "Sdt.an" m Scripture,
means ''the opposer:' When he
was cast out of hea\len by God, the
devil took a number of the angels
with h1m They were thrown out
of th£> third heaven, "where the
throne of God is," into the second
heaven ((phesians 6: 12). Hebrews
1 ~: 1 tPII~ u<> that Chnst"s angels are
also m1n1'itering on earth to the
~aints. Tht• "good" angels are not
only m heaven worshipping God,
hut also are on earth, protecting
those who have placed their trust
m the Lord . Some of those who
followed S.l tan are 1n the second
heaven, some on earth, and some
kept under bonds until the time
of the judgment Oude b). Satan's
final do'M"Ifall is shown m Revela-
tion 12:7-9, and Re velation 20.
When the devil is cast out of the
second heaven this is what makes
the Tribulation such a senous and
devastatmg period. H•s final de~
tinat•on will be the-l..1ke of f~re
Q. Portl•nd, Ore. "Wt/1 we be free
from sin in heaven or wifl we be
sub;ect to it as Satan, and there-
fore have to be cast out of heavenl"
A. Yes, we will be free from sin in
heaven. Jesus Christ d ied on Cal-
vary's cross to redeem us from sin,
delivering us from the power of
sin, and ultimately from the pres-
ence of sin (Colossians 1:13, 14).
Satan, unlike those who have re-
ceived the Saviour, can never be
redeemed. Heaven 1s an absolute

monarchy where God is complete
sovereign. Satan had his choice
which was 10 rebel, trying to be·
come like the Almighty. The angels
who followed him were cast out
also. Heaven would not be heaven
if there were always the tempta-
tion to sin. We shall be eternally
free from the very presence of sin
as well as from its power.
Q. "In the fi8ht of Matthew 13:3 4,
did the Lord teach in any way ex -
cept by parables? And, exactly what
is a parable?"
A. The quotation does not refer to
the whole ministry of Jesu s but
rather to those occasions of public
ministry. In the Beatitudes, for ex -
ample, He did not U'Se parables. A
parable is simply an imaginery
story used to illustrate certain spir-
itual truth. Someone has phrased
it as being a heavenly story with
an earthly meaning. It is to illumine
important truths.
Q. S~n Gregorio, C•lif-"What does
it mean in Romans 8:28 when we
have the phrase 'calfed according
to His purpose'?"
A, This is one of the most blessed
verses m all of Scripture. How
many have found comfort, strength
and encouragement as a result of it.
Notice the importance of that little
word "all." The point is that for
those who have placed their confi-
dence in Christ all things are work -
ing together for good. How differ-
ent for those who know not the
Saviour. For them all things are
working together for their con-
demnation. God has a plan and
purpose for each Christian. "Called
according to His purpose" is sim-

Q . Phoen:x, Ariz. "God seemed to
approve of war in Old Testament
times such as when the Israelites
went into Canaan and killed the
inhabitants. This seems inconsis-
tent with much teaching toda y that
w;u and killing IS wrong."
A. You must understand why God
seems to approve of war in Old
Testament times. He used one na-
tion in judgment against another.
The Israelites were commanded to
go into the land of Canaan because
of the lord's Condetnnatlon "011 tt1e
wickedness of the inhabitants. A,/·
cheology has helped us understand
something of why this was neces-
sary. Ancient records discovered in
more recent yea rs have shown the
utterly debased religion of the
peoples who were demon worship-
pers. They engaged in all kinds of
vile practices which could have
polluted the entire human race if
left unchecked. Unfortunately, the
Israelites did not obey Cod in ev-
ery detail. As a result, nothing but
misery and disorder came to the
Jewish camp because of their lack
of obedience. The lord could very
easily use another nation to bring
judgment upon our own beloved
lcmd. When one considers the im-
morality and corruption on every
hand 11 would be no wonder.

What chiefly shows up false prophets is that they

Get ready, Newport, here it comes again --tons and tons
of trash delivered right to our breezy doorstep --free of
charge. Some people call it vacation time when the Mem-
orial Day weekend opens the summer season, but for us,
it means TRASH season. It's a time of trouble.
Councilman Carl Kymla has asked for an accounting of
how much it costs the Newport taxpayer to provide fun and
games for visitors. He's lived here long enough to know
that the beachfront trash problem, alone, is a tremendous
drain on our pocketbooks and an eyesore to our people.
Easter Week crowds were pretty small this year, but their
pollution and vandalism were king-sized. They demolished
some trash cans, threw many others off the pier and left
·a horrible mess.
The debutante tall, the 13th
to be sponsored by the Newport
C ttapter, will be held Nov, 24
at the Newporter Inn.
Nelley, NOTICE IS HEREBY FUR -

Another kind of beach pollution is caused by dogs. Have
you noticed the size of some of the monsters that kids walk
around at the end of a string? It's time for our City Council
to put a 15-lb. limit on the size of dogs around here. If
we are going to be chambermaids, let's cater to the small
dog.
It would be interesting if we could get the state to permit
us to use some tidelands money to clean up our beach mess.
We've got a very efficient clean-up man in Jake Mynderse.
Let's get him some more trash cans and trucks and help
him have a happier trash season this summer.
If you've got a trash problem around your house, stop
by our place and look at our stock of brooms, trash cans
and disposal systems. See you at the store.
