The Genocide Convention has been pe&uog lo the Congress
tor ma..ay years. This year, as Ia previous oaes, the Con-
Yeotlon his beeD placed on tbe ealeodar. This does DOt
hxlicate, however, that a vote is Imminent. Durlng the
9tud Congress, the Genocide Conveottoo remained on tbe
caleodar ror tbe entire two years wtt~ ever be1Dg called
liP for a vote. 1 suspect that the same sequence or events
w111 occur this year, but 1 shall follow developments closely.

A. The Word of God indicates that
ln the beginning the Lord created
Adam, and from him Eve. At the start
there was obviously only one color.
What that wa.s no one knows. The
important thing is all the human
family came from Adam and E"e,
and then later from Noah's sons
Shem, Ham, and Japheth. While
some may argue that Ham was the
darkest of the three. there is no Scrip-
tural, geographicnl or anthropologi-
cal proof for the theory. Likewise,
there is no verse which asserts lhat
the Negro race came about because
of God's judgment on :t woman. This
is nothing more than a legend or a
myth. Incidentally, the Negro race
does not constitute the majority of
the human family. The yellow race
is by far more populous than any
other on the face of the earth. In the
huilding of the true Church there
are people from every race, from
ivory to ebony. Cod wants His re-
deemed creatures from all over the
world. This i.>i the motivation for mis-
sions. Whe n we get to heaven. we
are going to find that the lea.'it im-
portant thing Gnd considers will be
the color of a person's skin.
Q. Denver, Colo.-"'Could you give

of Man. Thu requires aootbot-llneap

apeci&c reference to the early life ol
the Lord, except few 3:18. Here He
Is pn:sented u the Son of Cod who
Would properly have no begUming
0< ending (1 :1). It is Interesting to
see that there are more records of
miracles in Mark's gospel thao any
of the others. ThJs is because Jaw
Christ was the Servant. 11M! key
word in the second gospel is "forth-
with" or "straightwsy."' We se Christ
in this book at the beginning of His
publlc miliistry, ,.rvlng the people.
John I ; 1, as we have pointed out,
is tbe unbeginning heginning. "In
the beginning was the W ord'"; He-
was already in existence. Verse 14
of John 1 gives us the glorious news
of the incarnation. This could only
refer to Deity. Wt> do not talk about
our birthdate as "thr day in whkh I
was made RPsh." Thb shows thr
uniqueness of Christ's birth. This is
berond the natm . .J reotlm. Cod in
His glory dwelt among m as in thf'
tabernacle of old, :.~llowmg us to be-
hold His glory. Thl• Arst three gos-
pels are synoptics, revf'aling trans-
figuration experience. John does not
do this because Christ's glory was
continuouslY manif~ted. Rderring to
Christ as the Word carrirs a great
deal o£ philosophical implications.
Chri~t i.s to the Godhead what"' word
is to a concept, idea or thought. Christ
is the expression o£ God; He is the
embodiment of <411 that Cod is in
love. graC't', and wi.~dom; in Him arc
hidden ~:~11 of the treasures of wis·
dom and knowlt'tlgt>. God nevt'T had
a body until Hf' bt"Came incarnAte in
the second Person of the trinity. This
is what is meant h)' the "Word." He
is the ft•ll emhodiml.•nt.

A.. In Matt. 1, and Luke I and 2
there is a marvelous exhibition of
Old Testament hopt" and expectation.
From the time Malachi gave his last
utterance there were 400 years of
silence until the ministry of John the
Baptist. The rf' is a beauti(ul L'Om·
mentary on lsa. 40 in the utterance
of Simeon (Luke 2 :25-35 ). It was a
case of revelation from the Lord to
Simeon. The promise was that he
would not die physically until he
had wen the· Lonl.:s. Chrirt.· ·Simeon
took up Jesus in his arms1 and blessed
1' Ood. Under the '"5Pi.rft of prOpt.Ny,
he knew that the child had resident
in him all of God's redemptive pur·
poses promi.~ed throughout the Old
Testament for all the world; that He
was the promised Messia h-Saviour.
Chrh:t is now as He has been through
the centurie~. He"s the Touchstone.
The-se are marvelous passages as we
study them throughout the year.
A. The 6rst point is to "erify for hn-
tbc: .inspiraU.on of tbe Scriptures. If
she wiH Wct"'!pt the Bible as th~
,Word of Cod, then you can show. her
Luke 1:35. Jt is cardinal to our faith.
Matthew 1 quotes from Isaiah 7rl4,
referring to the Lord'J virgin birth.
John 3:16. known as -the Golckn
Text" of the Bible, shows why Christ
came. All through Scripture the per·
son of the Lord Jesus Christ i.'l" of
such significance that a virgin birth
is absolutely logical and sensible. A
normal birth is natural to a noturoll
being; while supernatural birth i~
nah~ral to a supernatural being. Jesus
Chnst was not a mere man. he is u
supernatural Per~on. He is De-ity.
Such a birth for Him would he per-
fectly normal. Do not overlook the
fact that you should jjay that the
Holy Spirit Himself wi I speak to the
heart of your neighbor, bringing
conviction to her soul so that sh~
might recei"e the Lord as hM" own
personal Saviour.
'
Q. "I.t there any pnrticular rea.ron
why Mark"ll go.tpel doer not con-
tain any indicutitm about the birth
of Chri.n?"
A.. One apparent reason is that he.
cause Mark is giving a word picture
of the Lord Jesus Christ as a Ser-
vant. Matthew presents Him as the
King of th~ J~s. the Saviour of the
v.:orld. Tins 1s why His lineage is
gJVen. Luke presents Him as the Son

a better than 77percentwlnntng

But tMse aren't reasons wby
'73 Is a milestone to TtJCker's
career. The OCC coach admits
with a shrug that '73 Is the
tenth anniversary ot his great-
est season ever. His 1963 PI-
rate squad had a 10-0 record,
captured the national JC cham-
pionship, and capped tile per-
teet campa.Jgn with a 21-0 rout
ot Northeastero Oklahoma A
& M In the Junior Rose Bowl.
A perpetual optimist, who
prefers to look toward the fu-
ture rather than reflect oo the
past, Tucker admits tnat Ure
'63 season was prot&bly "the
highLight of my coaching car-
eer --so far."
"That was one heck of a
year,'' he sa.Jd. ''We ~d some
very tine athletes and were
able to put everything together.
We were blessed with a com-

went oo. to play maJor col1ege

How does Tucker approach
the 19?3 seasoo --10 years
alter? With the same eager-
Dess and eDthu.slurn he had
prior to the 1963 season,
"I can't help It, I get ex-
ctted about footba.IJ," he said.
"U I dtdn't love the sport I
wouldn't be beginning my 23rd
year as a coach."
Will he ever have anothP r
squad as strong as h.ls '63
outfit?
"I'm sure we will," he sal<!.
"There are more kids playLilg

ever before and hlgtl school
coaching Is getttng better au
the time.
"We may have another team
that Is as s trong as tl+•• '63
team, but I don't know if we 'll
ever go 10-0 again. Junior Co l-
le~ football Is much more
balanced today than In 1963.
There just aren't many push-
overs anymore.

DON'T BLAME JOE
They're starting to snipe at Joe Devlin.
Joe is our city director of public works --in other words,
the city engineer. (And he's a darned good one.) When a mem-
ber of the taxpaying public, which pays Joe's salary, asks him
a question, he gives an honest, forthright answer, based on his
engineering experience. Sometimes, people don't like the answers
they get from Joe. Well, that's tough.
U you ask your doctor about that pain in your side and be
tells you it's an inflamed appendix and you need an operation,
you might not like to hear that answer. You might even decide
you don't want an appendectomy. That's up to you. But, don't
get mad at the doctor because he gave you an honest answer,
based on his professional tratning.
Now, if Joe Devlin is given the job of moving traffic, he will
decide the best, most efficient way to do this, keeping the cost
factor in mind. U the best way doesn't please you, then you
can pick the second or third best way --or no way at all. But,
don't scream at Joe. He's not a social worker or a psychologist.
It's not up to him to worry about the human problem of nobody
wanting an arterial street near his house. U we only bunt high-
ways near the homes of people who asked for roads past their
front door, we would all be walking --there would be no high-
ways,
So, now the city won't let Joe Devlin talk to his employers,
the people, any more. It's even rumored that there are people
in town who want him fired. They'd · better think twice about
that. After working with Joe for 4 years, I can tell you the city
will never have a more dedicated, efficient, honest engineer.
He's outlasted 3 city managers, and he'll probably outlast a
fourth. He's a fine man, Let's back him up.
For an honest deal on good, long-lasting American merchan-
dise, stop by the store. We like to talk, too, and NOBODY's
gonna shut US up.
AL FORGIT
P.S. U you want an example of the emotional approach to traflic,
take a ' look at Santa Ana Ave. in Costa Mesa. To jam up an ar-
terial road that was working . fine, they put boulevard stops every
block. Now, the road doesn't work any more. I should know. I used
to live on that street.
