' A TIP FOR RONALD CASPERS
Supervisor Ronald Caspers was sup-
posed to be the speaker at last week's
Newport Harbor Exchange Club meeting,
but he was away on a junket to Washington,
D. C., so his administrative assistant,
Tom Fuentes, took over the speaking
duties.
Tom explained that Mr. Caspers was
on a mission to seek more federal funds
for Orange County . The logical question
came from the Exchange audience:
Wouldn't it be better if the money were
left here in the first place, instead of
being sent to Washington, subjected to
a considerable brokerage fee, and then
sent back in a considerably diminished
condition? Mr. Fuentes said that Mr,
Caspers really is interested in trying
to keep down the tax burden, which is
an excellent claim for any politician.
But perhaps many at that meeting re-
member, as I do, that It was Mr. Caspere
who proposed to his fellow supervisors
that Orange County sboold hire its own
man in Washington --a lobbyist whose
duty it would be to get as much of that
''free" federal money for Orange County
as possible.
Even a novice politician can figure oot
that if one coonty hires an expert to grab
more federal cash, so must other coun-
ties; it' one city does the same, so must
other cities--for all want their "share."
There are 3,100 coonties in the U. S.,
and at least a like number of cities of
sufficient size and greed to get their
own man for the raid on Washington.
A very conservative estimate of cost
is $50,000 per year for each l obbyist,
including his entourage, office space,
travel, bar bill and other political amen-
ities. Multiply that by some 6,000 lobby-

So what Is the net result for the abused

scheme for a lobbyist In Washington?
No extra federal money, since there
would be a stand-off among all the coun-

Please cancel my subscription to the
Reader's Digest. This Is my protest
against your decision to lend the high
prestige and great circulation of your
magazine to promoting the most heinous
crime In all history, the killing of unborn
babies. Your November issue carries
the message of Dr. Alan Guttmacher,
"Why I favor liberalized abortion." You
do not include any editorial expression of
disagreement; on the contrary, there Is
an Invitation to order additional reprints
of this shocking article.
Many of us recall with horror the
terrible stories of the Nazi extermlna-
lion camps of World War II, where an
estimated 6 million Jews were put to
death in Hitler's gas ovens. The blood
purges In Soviet Russia and Red China
also have shocked the civilized world
with their callous disregard for human
llfe. Now we In the United States are wit-
nessing legally sanctioned killing that will
In time surpass the awesome toll of the
brutal crimes of the Nazis and the Com-
munlsts.
We all know that God Is not mocked.
What a terrible charge the abortionists
must answer for on judgment day I

J..snib of God (John I :29) who wu olf<rinc tho Kiard«n of Heova> to .....tdnd (W.U. 3:2). A
little later, God the Father, Jesus, God'a Soo. and
God the Spirit strmcthcned John's testimony
by te.rif~f\1 to .Jesw u God'• Son ,while
He was bdnc baptized (Man. 3 :13-17). J .. ut,
God's Lamb, declared Him~f the Mcsaiah to the:
saved woman of sin (John 4:25, 26); then as equal
with God (John 14 :8, 9) ; then as God's eternal life
(John 8:ll); then as God's "I am" (John 8 :l8);
furthermore as the resurrection and the life (John
II :25); alao Gods Way, Truth and Life and the
only way of salvation and to God (John 14 :6).
There is no going to God, no knowing God and His
truth, and no living for or serving God ucept
through Jesus. God's Lamb.
His miracles proved Him as God's Lamb in four
ways. Hi<J physical healing• evidenced His power
over the human body. O ther miracles such as feed·
ing the five thousand with a few crackers and fish
and calming the wind and sea evidenced power over
nature. Every funeral he met was disbanded by
His bringing the dead to life, evidencing His power
over hell. All assured His ability and wiUingness to
impart God's blessings promised through the Lamb
of God. He fulfilled 240 great prophecies concern·
ing the Lamb of God. Notwithstanding all this evi ·
dence, apostate religion rejected Him. He said,
Search the Scriptures for they testify of Me (John
5 :39). During the last wedc: of His ministry He
wept bttau~ of the rejection of Himself and Hi.s
offered blessings and because of the blessings thus
missed by mankind (Matt. 23 :37-39). Notwithsta.nd·
ing God's offer and assurances of blessing through
His Lamb, rhe apostate unsaved religious leadership
demanded and secured His crucifixion. His cruci·
fixion was not desired by the delivered demoniac
(Mark 5), the woman of .sin (John 4), the blind man
of John 9, nor the saved thit:f next to Him on Gol-
fotha, but by the unsaved rcJ.icious leaden of His
day. He had warned that they would mi.t.s Him be·
cause of heeding man's teachin( "ther than God's
Word. o-
After the: Lamb's crucifixion aDd bodily ruur-

In 2 Corinthians 11 :13-15, Satan is ahown ~
posing Bible truth through pulpiteers who preach
righteousneu, not the right~usnes1 of God in Christ
Je••• (2 Cor. 5 :21; Rom. 3:21·26), but rigloteou ..
nus of moral living, human kindness • .acial refor·
mation, and various other forms even includ.ine
kindnus to animals.
Second Thessaloniant 2 :4-12 explains how apos-
t.uy will precede and so affect mankind a.s to cause
them to receive Antichrist.
Paul's last message and appeal to mankind is
recorded in 2 Timothy; a theme: of the book could
be ''counteracting aposta.sy.'' There art: 175 su•-
gestions as to how this counteraction can take place.
These suggestions inclutk standing for Bible truth
(chapter I), striving for Bible truth (chapter 2),
living stedfast in Bible truth (chapter 3), and
suffering for Bible truth (chapter 4). In 2 Peter Z
the Holy Spirit warns about ruinous work through
apostate Bible teaching. The Holy Spirit likens them
unto dogs turning to their vomit and sows wallowing
in their mire (2 Peter 2:22). Such vomit and mire is
filthy. Their rejection of God's truth makes them
egotistical scoffers concerning Bible truth.
In 1 John 2 :9-11, saved ones are reminded that
encouragement or any measure of co-operation with
the works of darkness makes Christians sharers of
their work. damnable fruitage, and condemnation
before God. Jude is the vestibule of Revelation and
its war between Bible truth and apostasy, Heaven
and hell, Christ and Antichrist, and also between
God and the Devil. It is the Bible's most thorough
de~ription of and warnings about leachers of apos·
tasy. A saved one's only God-pleasing attitude
should be an endeavor to lead such teachers and their
followers to salvation through Jesus, God's Lamb
(Jud• 20-23). (To be.....,._)

II NO JUDGMENT FOR SIN AWAITS GoOD'S SAINTS
Another glorious reason for thanksgiving to the saint of God Is thl~"lhete
Is tharefore now no condemnation (Greek, k8Uktima-jucf&ment apln.t) to them W'hich ara IN JESUS CHRIST:' (Rom, 8:1),
In other words we shall never be brouaht into Mure judament fot our sins.

I LL RUN AGAIN!
I'm going over to the Newport Beach City Hall wtth my
little lotus bud and she's going to plunk down $100 to get
my name on the next City Council election ballot.
Now, I'm not known very well, and I've made some of the
big money boys mad at me, anyway, so I don't guess very
many people will be willing to donate money to my campaign.
But, being completely dissatisfied with the present adminis-
tration, I'm convinced I should run, anyway. Here are some
of my campaign plans:
We have about 35,000 registered voters here in Newport,
so if I want to send out postcards to every family in town,
I will have to mail about 17,000 cards. At a cost of 6~ each,
that's about $1,000 to mail them. To get them printed on one
side will cost me another $95.
There are a couple of newspapers in town
Mesa that circulates here, so I'll run a
twice in each one. That's about $500.
and one in Costa
quarter-page ad
We'll need a few brochures to pass out, so I'll order 3,000
of those and about 2,000 poster cards. That's roughly $150.
Now, before I spend any more money, I'd better go hire
me a lawyer for about $500, because I will evidently be ar-
rested . and taken to court by the city for spending too much
money on my campaign. You see, the city just passed an
ordinance that says a candidate can only spend $500. That
makes it tougher to kick the incumbents out of office. Notice
how they passed that law just before 4 of them come up for
reelection?
Maybe the city attorney would defend me. I understand
the city has plenty of money for things like $300 chairs, and
free dinners for members of committees. Maybe the city
manager will help me. He seems to have almost unlimited
funds at his disposal.
Hey, maybe I can find 3 other guys to run against the pre-
sent power structure, and we could share a lawyer and other
expenses.
Or, maybe the City Council will just resign, appoint new
members, and save all of us the bother and expense. Then,
we'll all go to San Francisco on an elbow-bending vacation .
P.S. There won't be a "seagoing Santa Claus" in front of
the store this year. The energy crisis is serious, and we must
conserve electricity. Let's all turn off the TV sets from 10
p.m. until 7 a.m., too. That would help the president's efforts
to save energy --and it would help him in other ways, too. ·-

Many ancient clvlllz.a-
