There Is a maddening frustration to
hear of the continuing assault on our
coostltutional rights by the unelected
rulers who are s o aptly called the coast

gant blow o! all came last week with
a ruling that downzones many older
neighborhoods along the Orange and Los
Angeles county coastlines.
One appalling decision after another

Our U. S. constitution guarantees to
us a republican form of government,
conducted by our elected representa-
tives. Now we are seeing this guarantee
swept away by unelected rulers who set
aside local laws and demolish constitu-
tional safeguards for our property.
This usurpation of power by political
appointees will have to be met head-on
In a court of law, with a counter-attack
challenging Prop. 2 0 and Its coast control
Inequity as unconstitutional. Then we can
once again be a nation under law and not
under ecological whim. • • •

• MORE LEGISLATIVE MEDDLING
Our present Newport Beach City Coun-
cil holds the record for passing more
repressive legislation than any other
Council In the city's history. Tops In
this legislative meddling Is the ordinance
adopted last week, controlling election
campaign contributions and expenditures.
Perhaps the thought Is that politicians
become as angels when the contributions
are cut down. The record does not bear
that out. In the many years of observing
Council campaigns, I have seen some
candidates win with very little spending
and some with an enormous budget. Either
way there has been no angelic presence
In our Council chambers.
Tbe new ordinance 1B made-to-ordsr
to benetlt the Incumbents. With the draa-
tie llmtt put on campaign spending, they
fUrther handicap any political hopefuls
wbo would like· to unseat them. lncum-

Bible's Scientific .Accuracy
From "THE EVANGEL," Bo1ZS, Largo, Fla.
Bitter and blatant have been the attacks on the Brble, but of late. the form
of the attack and the tone of a~sault have chan~ed. It has been well sa•d that
wh 1lst Infidelity used to pound the 8 1ble with arguments, it now pats the Bible,
and says: "Really a very frne Book, but by no means faultless." a n.;l 1nstcad of try·
in& to cut it to pieces they are trying to chotte. it witn ,FfJewef'5o.1i ~ '""• 1. .. • v.
Here is a fact, that whilst the object of the Bible is nono· t&;cb~SciCnc.e ... tM
moJal and •plritu.l truth, and it Js not. therefore, ,couci'Ped' tn ~denfRic tiiut
in simpla form, yet not one scientific effor, blunder, or absurdity h;n e.wr been
found m it.
There are in it some remarir:able statements. In Job 28:25 we are told that the
atmosphere has wei ght. It has been oniy a comparatively recent d1Sc~ry that the
atmosphere has werght. pressini down 15 lbs. to the square inch. Such an idea
would Nlve been laughed at generatrons lliO and ret in the oldnt ltnown Book
in the world (Job 28:25) we find th is statement.
LAW OF WINDS
Until quite modern t1mes men never lmaained that winds moved by c.Urn
fixed laws, and yet in Eccles1ast~ 1:6 this is declared to be so.
LAW OF GRAVITATION
The Law of GtCivrtation was d iscovered by Isaac Newton. Some of the ancient
ide.as of the world amuse us now, and yet in Job 26:7 we have a statement which
marvellously harmonized w1th the very latest discovery, It declares that the earth
is without any 11is1ble support.
THE NUMBER OF STARS
In the third century ~fore Christ, a &reat astronomer, Arrstarchus, counted
the staf'5 and found 1022, and he declared that was the total number. lAter in the
second century of the Christian era, Ptolemy discovered four more and asserted
1bsolutely that he had found them all. On a clear n1ght with the naked eye we
may see 1160, so if we could survey the whole celestial sphera we woold be able
to see about JOOO. U ndl'f modem astronomy about 7000 stars were counted. The
f1rst telescope increased the number to more than 100,000. Later, on the 1mprov•
ment of the telescope the number of stars was rncreased to 300,000, and the 4C).rn.
modern lens to 100,000,000 nurly of the celestial sphere. Lord Rosses' a:~at ln.
strument revealed 400,000,000 and now man admits that he cannot count the sta~.
and yet in Jeremiah 33:22 it is definitely declared that the "hosts of Heaven cannot
be numbered."-(light & liberty)

There ia. a k>nl' period of time that pa.ue1 alter God

One of the moat wicked, impioua, hypocritical charac-

through Isaiah and aaid : "A•k tM~ a kip of JeJ&.ot.oG4

'a.k it either ift th~ deptA, or i" t~ height a.OOvfl:.'"
What does that word SIGN mean tlt can only mean a
miracle. God aaid, "Aha%, you are denyinl' Xe. I want
to prove to you that I am God, ao you uk Me to per-
fonn a aign or a miracle for you. You can uk it to be
done in the depth or the heaven, and I will do it for
you." Notice what he said : "I will no~ uk, fteleher wilJ
I tempt Jehovah.'' 0, the piousity of thi.s man! Then
the prophet turned from Aha:z and spoke to the house·

passage is ALMA H. It is used seven times in the He-
brew Scripturea, and in every case it ia used for a
woman who hu not known man. It refers to a virain,
virtuous woman, yet the Revised Standard Veraion
reads, "a·young woman sMll conceive a'ftd bear 4 •OR."
There i~ nothing miraculous about a younl' woman
conceiving and bearing a son. The tranalators of the
Revised Standard Version said if the Hebrew word
BETHULAH had been used, then they would have
used the word virgin. Yet there are places where
BETHULAH.refeTB to a married woman. L.sm.nU lik~

MAH always refers to a virgin, virtuous woman.

WIN TER SOLD IERS
U I were Santa Claus, I'd give a present to the loneliest, most
deserving man in the world the President of the United
States. I would give him back the thousands of !air-weather
friends who deserted him when the political climate turned
cold and bitter. I would go from house to house in these United
States and search for the kind of men who spent the winter
with General Washington at Valley Forge.
Do we still have Americans like that? Those were men you
could depend upon. They didn't run away when the going got
tough. They were Americans when it wasn't easy to be an
American. Where are these winter soldiers, today? I would
like to gather up every one of those Southern California attor-
neys who stabbed our President in the back and trade them all
in for just one of General Washington's brave men.
What a Christmas present it would be for our President, just
t o know that he would have s ome real Americans to stand
by him. Here is a President who has done his very best for
America. He got us out of a wa.r that was draining us morally,
economically and physically. He responded to the pleas of our
young people by stopping the draft, His emissaries have trav-
elled the globe and devoted their every moment and all of
their energies to the very hard task of bringing peace to the
world. While some people talk of peace and hold up 2 fingers,
our President is doing something about it,
Now, in the season when we are celebrating the birthday
of the Prince of Peace, I think it would be very fitting if we
all sent our President a Christmas card to show our appre-
ciation for what he's done. Go ahead, send him a greeting.
Three years from now, when he steps down, you'll feel very
good about having been on his side. Show him there are still
a few winter soldiers left in America.

P.S. As a Christmas present to all of us, will ALL of Amer-
ica's politicians please give us a detailed financial report
and a tape recording of their most intimate political conver-
sations?
