• THE FOUNDATION OF ALL RIGHTS
I appreciate being included among the
recipients of Realty Board plaques for
defending individual property rights.
That's what freedom is all about --the
right to own property. We should all
be involved in this cause, for it Is the
bedrock foundation for all other human
rights.

not so either. These mortal tenta we inhabit are
a lot more than paulon and plumbfnl'; they are
masterpiece~ of creation, and moet of the time
they are marveloua places of residence.
What we don't get clear ia our Creator's in-
tent in devising ua the way he did ; 10 we Iettie
for secondary goals. We decide the important
thing ie to adorn and indulge our bodies, and
give them pleasure, and make it u eaay for them
as possible. Of coune our bodjes were not made
for any such purpose, so they fall apart in t he
face of a ll the attention.
Millions of people are existing on the face of
the earth today without a clue as to what their
bodies are for. They breathe, but have nothing
to breathe for. They chew and swallow to stay
alive without knowing why. They walk, but have
no place to go. They bear children, but their
children give them more pain and worry than
pleasure. The struggle to continue to live occu -
pies most of their time-but it seems hardly
worth it.

SAYINGS Of'
DR. BOB JONES
(FOUNDER, BOB JONES
UNIVERSITY!
You can do anythin & you
ouaht to do.
The New Testament teaches that the human
body does have a purpose. It is more than a phys-
ical apparatus, it is a temple. "Don't you know,"
asks Paul, "that your body is a temple of the
Holy Spirit?" These strange, marvelous bodies
of ours that are able to do almost anything, even
go to the moon, were devised by God for himself,
that he might take up residence in them. He sent
his Son to take away our sin that was thwarting
his purpose, so that we might fulfil the end for
which our bodies were made.
But people don't know this. They don't know
their Bible, so they don't know what to do with
themselves. Suppose a child were turned loose
in a gigantic computer insta1Iation. He wouldn't
know which buttons to push, so he would do
everything wrong. In the same way we humans
let our eyes look at the wrong things ; our hands
touch the wrong people; our mouths speak the
wrong words; our legs take us to the wrong
places; and sooner or later both our minds and
our bodies are in deep trouble.
We are tenants in our apartmenta of flesh ;
God is the Landlord. He wishes to be Landlord-
in-residence, but he will not move in unless and
until he is ln9lted. Once he is invited and he
comes in, then he takes charge of the body. Once
the body recognizes itA Muter, the body be$rins
to function the way it wu built to function. We
do God's bidding just as we were created to.
We see, hear, breathe, taste, touch, and do the
thinn that are pleasing to him.
When that happens, a man never again has to
ask what his body is for. All the norma l func-
tions of his physical equipment and all the ran-
dom behavior that he previously engaged in are
now directed by a higher source. They converge
into a beautiful pattern and take the body in a
direction that will make it productive and useful.
The human body (and this is the Secret) is
made for love. The lungs breathe so we can love :
the larynx and tongue form words of love ; the
I egg take us on deeds of love; the arms are for
embracing in love. But not just love on the
human level. People think human love is what
life is all about, and what their bodies are all
about. That is why so often they end their days
in sorrow and bitterness.
The Lord Jesus Christ taught us that the
human body was made to welcome him and to
love him and to live in him. He said that'" wh at
ou r bodieg are for. And that's what life is for.

THAT'S OIL, FOLKS!
Have you heard the latest solution to the energy crisis? The
federal government wants to take over the oil business --"na-
tionalize" it, just like the socialist countries. I can see it now:
Gas stations would be run by committees, just like every-
thing else the government touches. U you think being closed
on Sundays is a pain in the neck; just think of all those holidays
the federal workers get off. The stations would be closed almost
as much as they would be ope~. Think of those 11 long week-
ends that our civil servants take off.
And just wait until you get your tax bill for all of thOI'I'C! dry
holes that the government drilling rigs would come up with.
Each service station would have to hire at least one member
of each minority group. And you would have to convene a civil
service board to fire one of the attendants.
The government !,;..o never made a success of any of its many
business ventures, so why do the politicians think they could
succeed in the oil game? We would probably end up paying $2
per gallon for gas, then paying taxes to cover the losses.
Let's face it, the politicians, who are really partly respon-
sible for this crisis, are now trying to make noises that will
get them re-elected to solve it, Instead, we should kick ALL
of the bums out .of office.
An energy expert, Dr. Ehricke, who spoke here the other
night, reminded us that the politicians were warned 9 years
ago that a crisis was coming. They did nothing. Meanwhile,
Detroit, the ·oil companies, and the utilities urged us to buy
bigger cars, live in all-electric "Gold Medallion" homes, buy
electric toothbrushes, can openers and other gadgets. What a
farce!
Let's tell our politicians and corporate giants to come up
with a bold program for using nuclear and solar energy--or
move over and let somebody else have a shot at solving the
mess THEY have gotten us into. • • • •
Before the government takes over the hardware business and
ruins it, too, stop by the store and check out our quality mer-
chandise made by free-enterprise American manufacturers.
