" Enoch uttered this prophecy to the men of his , own generation: for ''by faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death" (Heb. 11:5) When was this? It was before the flood which was a type of the judgments to come upon the world in the days of the great tribulation. Enoch was a type of the church which will be trans- lated before the Antichrist is re- vealed and the purifying judgments sweep the earth. SYNAGOGUE AND TEMPLE Q. Our voters, being big Uppe r s, decided to pass a charter change that gives them $300, instead. If you had a guy who wanted to work for you for $5 an hour, would you pay him $10? While our generous voters are handing out their money to the city's chiefs, I wonder if they would consider a little for the Indians. I'm talking about the police --the fellows who put their lives on the line to protect our lives and property every day. They are trying to get a pay raise now, and it looks like they're having a little more trouble than the chiefs did. Now, I live in the "bowery" part of town, so I have a lot of occaaiens to call on these fellows. They work hard and do a fine job, and I think their families have just as much right to eat steak as those of the chiefs and administrators. If we paid our police better, maybe we wouldn't have such a big turnover and have to be spending money to train new men to replace those who have left for greener pastures. Are we some kind of poverty-stricken town that can't afford to pay its police a decent salary? How many police- men do you know who can afford to live here where they work? If you were a ·policeman and your family lived here in the community, wouldn't you be just a little more concerned about safe streets? While we're on the subject of our fine policemen, I would like to ask their administrators to take a hard look at our parking meter policy. The meters were put in to move traffic. Instead, they're being used like slot machines, as a source of income. On a day when a 30-mph wind is blowing and there are few cars on the streets, we shouldn't be giving kids $10 tickets. That would be a good day to give the meter-maids some indoor work or training. A tip for the City Manager, who is looking for a way to pay for opera- tion of that extra police station. Ground the noisy heUcopter and put 5 more men on our streets or in the station house. There's no charge for this advice from a taxpayer who helps pay the freight. • * * • * Stop by the store, and we will provide plenty of off-street parking out back, while you browse through our high-quality merchandise. • • • P.
