Here, also, is spaciousness, that opens ooto another balcony a bit closer to tbe frothy sea foam. One could even see a myriad of minute sea life on the freshly washed rocks and in the Uny crevices. Most of the guests gathered in the famtly room to meet and greet one another. and enjoy their various chosen beverages, before partaking of the sumptuous buffet served in the upper dining room. It's harder for a Mexican to get Into the U.S.A. thar. for a good Idea to get toto the halls of Congress. Yet, we take hundreds of thousands of Vletnamese as if they were our long-lost brothers. Does this make sense to you? Now, long before me and you and our ancestors staked a claim on 'this ground, the Indians were here. What Is now California became part of Mexico. We took 11 away from them. Sorry If that doesn't sound good to you, but that's what happened. So, for many years now, we have had residents which we call Mexican-Americans or "Chicanos." We have also used a lot of cheap Mexican labor, called "braceros," to work our tields. These fellows would come up from Meiico at harvest time, do hard back-brEIIldng labor In our fields for very little pay, and go back to Mexico with a few bucks to feed their families. They needed the jobs. But, some of our own workers didn't llke the competition, so the unions put the pressure on the politicians to stop tbe bracero program. Well, that's the way tt goes.
