Not Enough To Say 'The Church'
If the unity of the Church is violated by him, who, instructed .solely by
Divine truth opposes himself to ordi nary authority, then the prophet must
be a schis m.atiq because, not at all deterred by threats from warring
against the impiety of the priests, he steadily persevered ... We conclude
that the servants of God have never felt themselves obstructed by the
empty use of the word "Church" when it was put forward to support the
reign of impiety. It is not enough, therefore, simply to throw out the name
of "Church," but judgment must be used to ascertain which is . the true
Church and what is the nature of its unity. And the thing of first im-
portance is to beware of !eparating the Church from Christ its Heid.
When I say Christ, I include the doctrine of His Gospel, which He tea1ed
with H is blood. Ow-adversaries, therefore, if they wouid penuade us
that they arc the true Church, must, first of all, show that the true doctrine
of God is among them : and this is the meaning of that, viz., the preaching
of sound doctrine and the pure administration of the sacraments.

Just got back from a 2,000-mlle trip, and I've got some thotJChls on cars, speed,
pollee, and energy.
First of all, I saw the pollee writing so many Uclo!ts lor speeding, IIIey must all
have arthritic fingers by DOW. It set me to thinking about how much valuable law
enforcement time Is spent writing up these speedsters. And of course, the speed
merchants burn up a lot of oaluable p.!K>llne, wblch Is getting to be In short supply.
Well, one thought ldnd oiled to anotber, and I came up wtth some Ideas:
With all of the Immigration and births, we ue getting more and more people.
That means more and more cars. At the same time, we'Ve about ston>ed buUdlng
roads. Insurance Is skyrocketing, despite all of the new safety features !be cars
have. And the pollee are speeding a lot of !bell' time dollig the Insurance company's
work by drawing up detalled reports of every auto accldeot.
How much sln.,ler would things be If we simply limited the speed of cars to about
45 mUes per botlr'l I meau, build them .., they wouldn't go any laster. The n».ds
are goJnc to he .., crowded pretty sooo, tlw.t'U just about be our speed, anyway,
Think what tbls would do:
The accident rate would go way down, and Ibis would tree the pollee to speDd more
time catchiDg burglars and murclerera. Insurance companies would baYO to lower
their rates to reflect the new accident rate.
The Arabs would cry all over thell'Cadlllacs, of course, because "'" •ould oo looger
be dependent upoo them. Tbat's provtcled that we have the good sense to go ahead and
drW for !Klme of our own oil oft the cout.
Detroit could ship off aU of Ita uuold Inventory of big cars to JlJIIlll and Germany,
where they could be melted down, re-built as small cars and shln>ed back lor less
!ban our union labor can buUd them.
I'll ten you, the more I think about It, the more sense It maluts, Why are we In such
a bell of a barry. anyway? After all, It took us 200 Je&re to turn the Coastltutl011
upalde down and let pernment slart lelllnl ua we can't bave oew ... per bouo 011 our
own lldewallla. U we lretp car..W. around at bleb speed In these bllge cars, the
stdewalka won•t be e&fe lor anJihiDg.
Wblle we're 011 tbls eoerv-sav!Dc !blDg, why dOII't lhtJ turn ott .,me of tbe lights
