Q. Pleate explain Exodus 32:32 and
Revelation 3 :5 which seem to imply
that one can be blotted out of the
book of life.
A. The birth of a chikt is written in
God's book of life just as the
Bureau af Vital Statistics registers
the birth of a child in this country.
Doubtless this is the record which
Moses prayed to be removed '"
Exodus 32:32. No one's name is
written in the lamb's Book of life
except upon his putting his fa ith
if1 Christ. A child too young to un ·
derstand the way of salvation would
--be covered by the grace of God and
the b~ of Christ and his name
would be written therein; no infant
will be refused entrance (see the
account of David's Httte son in II
Samuel 12:23 of whom David said.
"He cannot come to me but I shall
go to him"). Revelation 3 :5 is only
a _reassurance that if one is saved.
his name never will be removed
from the Book of life. Neither the
prayer of Moses (Ex. 32:30-34) nor
of Paul (Rom. 9:3) were answered
by God. Only One was worthy to
ma~e an atoning sacrifice for the
souls of men, God 's si nless-Son.
the Lord Jesus Christ Himself.
Moses made an offer of his own
life which God answered by stating
that men would suffer for their own
sms . not for the sins of others.

Q. Was John the Baptist really an
incarnation of Elijah as some cul -
t ists t•ch?
A. No. he wa s not. He came in the
power and spirit of Elijah and had
a unique calling between the Old
and New Testament eras. He re -
sembled the Old Testament proph-
ets but he was the particular her·
aid of the Lord Jesus Christ whom
he pointed out to his disciples as
"the lamb of God who taketh away
the sin of the world" (John 1 ;29).
Call ing him Elijah was like our
saymg that some political leader
"is another Theodore Roosevelt,'"
etc. When the Pharisees came to
John the Baptist and asked if he
were Elijah . he said. "No" {John
1:21) and that should setUe the
matter. Elijah wa s $een on the Mt.
of Transfiguration, having been rap-
tured and never having tasted of
death; but John the Baptist was
murdered by the vite Herod. and his
disciples in great sorrow buried
him (Matt. 14:1·12).

Q. How can I expl•in the wiping
out of the Canaanites by the Lord?

iniquity was full. It was necessary
to destroy them in order to save

I WANT YOU to look at that Jittle

of him now in Hrht of this truth
that HIS UP'I HAD A UGINNJNG

You remember well fh~ma•ay he

Can" you see then how very ur-
,ent it is for us parents who are
respoMible for our children, to
have a definite PI'OI'J1Uil of w~r

our home? It will contribute more
than anythina else to the happi-

well beina in the world hereafter.
Good intentions are not enouch.
We must ret down to specific
trunp -to octually arranae for
~Jar periods eet uide in the
home routine for family praren
and devotions.
By the way, sometimes we talk
aboUt the "family altar." AI. a
child I didn't undentand that
word for a lona time. But 1 un-
derstand now that in Bible times
the altar wu a place where God
met Hia people. And eo that ia

where the family pthen around

They can lea.m ._,t an early age
the worshipful spirit and then be
taught the other points later on.
I know very weU what -some of
the hindrance! to family worship
are. We have met some of them
in our "home, those thinp that

it, they keep us. frcm hav~ it
as regularly as we should.
"We Jut Haven't Tim.e "
I suppose the most common
hindrance is. "We just haven't
time!' Now let's analyze this
business of not having time. We
all have the same number of
houn in one day_ You know there
are a lot of i nequalities in our
world, but no one has any "edge"
on anyone else in this matter. We
all have 24 hours in a day. Now
the Bible tell!'! us to see.k fint the
kingdom of God and H i!'! right-
eou!'lneM, Everything else is sec-
ondary.
You fi.nd time to do the things
,vou really want to do. I hope and
pray that somehow God will take
this message and use it to create
in you such a desire to have fam-
ily worship, that you will quit
being so busy with some of those
thinp that are not import~nt
and get busy with a program_ of
worship and Bible teaching in ttte
home.
A woman wa'8 heard to say in
M~~ponee to our teaching on pri-
vate devotions, "I don't have
time to atop for prayer. I jUBt
couldn't .ret my work done."
Friends, if we're too busy for
prayer, we're too busy. We are
doiq eome thinp we shouldn't.
I don"! -• that family <Jevo.
