Hallowe'en. One of the
best ideas for keeping the
kids off the streets and out
of trouble was shown in the
successful party held by the
Rotarians for the sixth time
which gave some 700 of
them an outlet for their ex-
uberance. When adults can
figure ahead of youngsters
and not try to thwart their
natural tendency to blow off
steam, but channel it into
something that serves the
same purpose, they have
demonstrated something
worth while.
We can't say we envy a
group of men trying to judge
several hundred Hallowe'en
costumes, but they did it,
and gave out enough prizes
to winners to satisfy them,
plus candy to all. And, per-
haps as a coincidence, P<>-
lice reported only one win-

JudJ>e Jones. The kindly
and wise old gentleman who
sat on the city court bench
for about three and one-half
years to fulfill the place of
'Bob' Gardner when he went
to war stepped down yester-
day to go again into retire-

emerged to handle the city

natural liking for kids and
often they pulled at his heart
strings when a serious
breach of law came before
him. U there was ony doubt
of innocence or if discipline
to be imposed by the parents
could be restrted to, he us-
ually prescribed a way out
which produced a salutary
effect on these youngsters.

MOTOR OIL
-a war-born inhibitor that
holds oxidation in check
D u a.IN'O THI WA&. yun this newly d~vercd oxidation
inhibitor was in military servicr:. It was hclpi.ng to aave our
tanb and other fighting vehicles from lubrication failures that
would have ta.ken them out of action.
Now, at no incttasc in cost, you can have this war·bom
i,pgredient in your motor oil.
Added to Gilden Shell dur-
ing manufacture, it light!
the oxidation which results
-in sludge. It gives you an oil
that stays free-flowing, full
bodied, and efficient from
one oil drain to the next.
As you know, gummy
sludge means trouble. It
sticks to bearing surfaces,
offcring littlc or no l ubricat·
ing value, and p reventing
good oil from getting in
where it's nttded. \Vhen
this happens, a big repair
bill is brewing. So change
now to new Golden Shell
Motor Oil w ith. oxidation
inhibitor. Shell Oil Com-
