ing of candidates for the
June primaries. Who will
run? Well, so far as we can
tell, the list goes IOIDethlng
like this: Jea Elliott, pres-
ent incumbent; 'O.lba" Mor-.

chief of police of Santa Ana;
Walter Tipton, fonner dep-

sic, war vet. and sponsored
by Col. Berry of the Green
Sheet; Harry Bell, Fuller-
ton. who ran four yearn ago.
Rumor has it that Music is
really not keen for the race
but is being "egged on" by
' Berry. Elliott is finishing
his second term. Morris. for-
merly on . the local police
ford!. has been in the auto
traffic dept. of the state and
is regarded as the main con-
tender against Elliott.
Santa Ana usually puts in
Its own favorite son. due to
greater population. Whether
that condition will bold true
today or not, depends on
what the war has done to
the county. It bas certainly
left large gobs of people in
the harbor sector. along the
coast to Huntington Beach
and Seal "Beach and to the
south to Capistrano. There
are more people along the

county seat. In northern
Orange county also heavy

to be seen, but the real jg..
sue is to elect a sheriff. no
matter what his geographi-
cal setup, who has "guts"
enough to run his offir.e
without fear or favor.
While the first flurry of
excitement over tiling of lo-
cal candidates )las calmed
down somewhat," It might be
interesting to know that
·yuung Stanley Gol"ZUchovski,
part time employe of the fire
department and returned
veteran is not just playing
for publicity in filing for the
dty councl1 race. He is in
earnest.• Says if be doesn't

the fact that the young peo-
ple want representation for
their problems, and the next
time they may win.
This yoOng member of the

his appeal than It . might

call attention some time this
summer and every year af-

agencies are to be brought

yachting interests could con-
.· centrate on a great display
for which this harbor should
be known from Los Angeles

Included in the idea should
be efforts to light up the
area permanently to <;afe-

We'll do our part to help this

On the subject of traffic

_. that candidates are run-

s))e:Cial privilege is apoarent.
1'tle main issue of the pici' con-
struction is not yet settled, it wu
stated in the letter, signed by
Clarence Stanyer as chairman.
However, he said, they had pro-
posed to the other group that all
piers on the South Ba:v FTont he
removed and new piers be installed
at all street ends instead.
This and other considerations
claimed the attention of the Bay
Front lot owners. They also had
a letter on file with the city clerk
•t the tut Monday council session.
Their letter covered about the
same points as the other, except
they urged a survey be m ade of
the present piers and all illegal
obstructions or violations in their
length or size of floats be made to
reasonably comply without de-
stroying entire pier projects of in-
dividual&.
As the two factions seemed to be
working toward a solution, the
council agreed that ·more time
lbould be granted them.

Morris gave a creditable review
of the ala, rming traffic toll being
taken in the county, caused in
many instances by minor infrac.

that 26 have been killed to date
in the county, compared to nine
last year. Many of these fatal
accidents can be traced to negli-
gence, Morris decJared.

An exciting subject, one in which we are all instinctlW!ly

But don't worry, we will try and stay out of the cloudS

Old~and New"; 0 F1oors'"; ''Walls"; ''Roofs''; 11Styles Change'~;
"Prefal>-Wbere to"; pertlaps a bit'of history of the Americnn
Home; some defense of whilnsey and of sentiment; and with
all, an endeavor to stress the value cf design, of the imPQrt·
ance of that which we see-namely, shape and color.
Todays paragraph then will serve as a preface, or sort ot
general idea or things to come, but do not expect any specific
order, and above all do not take this home business too seri-
ously. Homes can be more fun than a merry-go-'round, and
should be allowed to be, although it must be admitted that
many folks seem deadly afraid of any but the commonplace,
and keep the door to individuality closed.

The improvement in quality and perfo>nti.ance has also
been evidenced, of cou, rse, in buses and cks. ·This im-

America's commercial automotive transpo system which
now handles millions of passengers and ons of tons of
freight daily.
Not only do many cities, large and sirui.11, use buses al-
most exclusively for public passenger portation, but
many metropolitan centers rely chiefly on cks to bring
