ton, Kansas, where his father railroaded. His dad had a family of seven children, his wife and himself to
care for, so to improve his financi8.l status1.he moved his large clan to Amarillo, Tex., and went "oil". This
was where James received his first schooung, although two years later the family moved back to Kansas
where he received more grade schooling and up through junior high. • • • At the age of 15 he started out
on his own. We next find him in Wichita. Kamas, woritin& in an electrical shop by day and going to high
school by nlgbL 'Ibis shop was where he secured his jollmeyman card and at the surprising age of 18. At
about this time he met and married Miss Maxine L Knowles and it might be well to mention that this young
couple still holds the distinction of being the youneest couple ln the U.S.A. to have twins-to-wit: Jimmie
Deen and Jerrie Lee, to mention but a few of their total of five sons and one girl. • • • J. B. decided to
