HERE'S WHAT YOU
CAN . GET!.
FOR A YEAR
,
'
t
YES. $12 A YEAR IS THE AMOUNT_OF CITl' TAXES THAT THE VAST MAJORITY OF HOMEOWNERS
\l'JLL PAY; A FE\V WILL PAY AS IDGH AS $22; VERY, VERY FE\V WILL PAY MORE THAN $22. (WE
URGE YOU TO CHECK YOUR ASSESSMENT WITH THE COUNTY ASSESSOR'S OFFICE SO THAT YOU
\VILL KNOW WHAT YOUR CITl' TAX.WILL BE.)
1. LOCAL POLICE PROTECTION-
Let's protect our city's children-.
2. WCAL qJ'Y PLANNING--
s.
Let's have Costa Mesans do the planning
for Costa Mesa.
•
BEITER FIRE PROTECTION-
Let's improve our fire fighting facilities
BEFORE we have a disastrous fire.
4. STREET LIGHTING-
y es, the little city of La Habra is planning
to install street lights this year
out of nonnal truces.
WHl' WILL THE CITY TAX
BE SOLOW!
5. STATE AID FOR s 'EWERS-
Only a city can get direct state rud for
sewers, a Sanitary district cannot do so. nie''
C.ounty Plan does not include a sewer sys-
tem within the City Limits of Costa Mesa.
<
WIDESPREAD GARBAGE AND
TRASH COLLECTION-
Enough said!
'7. SELF GOVERNMENT-
That's the American way.
Because under State Laws, S40,• A the CTIY OF CO!rrA MESA
will get more than YEAR from the ~te gasoline tax,
motor vehicle and
traffic fines.
THA'l"S RIGHT! SO, FOK MOST OF US HOMEOWNERS, THE CITl' TAX WILL BE ONLY $12 A YEAR.

High Prices. And now we
come to some reasons for
high prices. An item says:
"U. S. buys 'dried fruit . to
keep prices up" and assure a
"reasonable" return to Cali-
fornia growers and produc-
ers. Sure, it's 0. K. t o help
one section ·of the population,
but what a bout t he millions
\\lho want pruries, ·x:aisins,
etc. at prices they can af-
ford? If prices are to come
down, a start must be made
some\vhere, even if one sec·
t ion of the nation is hurt.
