Do You Smoke in Betl? T~la Better
Read Over This Ust of Rules
Smoking ii) bed is one 9f the
more ,,t.~llflc causes of fire -partic :ly fire which results in
serious personal injury and loss
of life. Thoee who have the habit
would do well to read a liat of
"Instructions to Gueata Preparing
to Smoke in Bed" which hu been
posted in the rooms of a
York hoter It says:
Older War Vets
Can Q••"'1 P
New Welf•e Senlce
"l, Call the office and notify
the management where >i>u wiah
your remains sent . . .
''2. Notify guests in adjoJnlng
rooms ot your intention · <SI en:-
d.anger1ng their lives, IO that they
may take the necessary precau-
tions to· protect themselves.
"3. Go to the corridor and lo-
cate the nearest fire escape, so
that if you are fortunate enough
to escape your room, you may
reach safety.
"4. Now sit down and think
how foolish it is for you to take
this risk-you may ~njoy your
smoke while thinking it over.
"Business may be good, but we
do not have guests to burn, so
please --Help Us to Protect
You.''
Those words cover a lethally
serious problem. And what ts true
of hotels is equally true of the
home.
