The next afternoon a swimming contest will be held at the Balboa fun zone followed on Wednesday afternoon with a talent show at the Balboa• theater and a street dance at Marine avenue and Bayside drive. Book S..Uoa 1 partmen~ We immediately started a recruiting a.nd training program which has now reached a point where we have 22 reserves trained and uniformed and ready to help patrol the city Easter week. Many ot these men are capable of doing all phases of police work wit~ut being accompanied by a regular. They have had four hours of in- struction every Sunday morning for the past four and a half months and have put in this time without any pay. as they are paid only when called out for duty. They all have otqer occupations and being a reserve officer la a spare time bobby. The reserve officers receive a total of about $3,500 per year for pa.Id work for the police depart- ment, most of it going for Euter week.
