THE VALUE OF A WILL
One of the strangest quirks of human nature is the
willingness of men to work hard to-accumulate money
and property for the use of their families while being un·
willing to bother making a 'fill to protect them.
No one should assume that his estate is going to be
distributed just a.s he wishea unleas he puts his wishes in
writing. And no one should make a will without consul-
'ting a competent attorney 80 that the will may be stated
in acceptable legal language ..
This matter of making a will is not one to be put off
!Jilli! tomorrow. If a person baa anything of value-a csr.
11 house, bonds, money in the bank and 80 on, he has an
~~tatc. For the protection of his family he should state
jn writing just how his estate is to be divided. It is also
·wise to name a bank as the executor of his estate so a.a
n.ot tc> imr>osc this burden on a friend or relative who has
neither the time nor the training to handle it.
People who have recently moved to California and
j13ve drawn• their wills in oth~r states do well to check
them in connection with California laws. • Banks have
u:;eful booklets covering these and other points on wills.
A little care now can 88\'e a lot of trouble later on.

fJlURCJI TRANSPORTATION
An a,dvertisement which appeared in a Jacksonville.
Fla.. newspaper introduced an idea which Is not only
arresting but one which might well be put into practice
everywhere.
, The ad read : "The Management and Einployees of the
Jacksonville Coach Co., composed of men and women of
all faith• and creeds working harmoniously together. feel
that in these troubled times the greatest single need in the
world is prayer. Beginning Sunday and on every Sunday
until furthl'r notice anyone boarding the bus ~tween the
hours of 8 :00 a. m. and 1 :00 p. m. may ride free on any
'bus on the City lines by merely saying to the operator. 'I
.am i;oing to Sunday School or Church.' or 'I have been to
Sunday School or Church.'
"This not only applies to persons attending regular
church services but is being done to encourage children
to attend Sunday School ... The world today is divided
into two armed camps ... We in the Un.ited States are
thankful that the vast majority of our people are in the
camp of God ... ··

Despite a month of plugging by the Santa Ana Nows·
paper, the Santa Ana Red Cross Branch collected less than
500 copies -in a much larger city.
This tremendous response to a small news item-
which was buried on page 8 .--------------'
-proves that people READ
every inch of the Harbor
area 's only official news-
papers, the NEWS • TIMES
and the PRESS.
A second story on page I
of the PRESS last Thursday
over the weekend brought in
' an additional 250 books.
