nationa( organ transplant waiting lust, and on average, 22 people die each day white waiting due to the shortage of
donatedorgans; and
`[I)JfrEW,E,AS, the needfvrdonatedorgans it especiaffy urgent in Hispanic andAfrican,3merican communities; and
UN13UAS, more than 600,000 units of 6loodperyearare neededto meet the needin Calfornia; and
`4ML RE,3S, at any given time, 6,000 patients are in need of volunteer marrow donors; and
$OfEQ�EAS, a single individuals donation of the heart, Lungs, Ever, kidneys, pancreas andsmadintestine can save up to
eight lives, donation of tissue can save andheafthe lives of up to 50 others; anda single blooddonation can help three
people in need, and
WHT EAS, mif ons of lives each year are saved and healed by donors of organs, tissues, marrow and brood and
UHEREAS, the spirit ofgiving and decision to donate are not restricted by age or medical condition; and
`WJfEREAS, over twelve miTion Californians have signed up with the state -authorized (Donate Life California Donor
Registry to ensure their wishes to 6e organ, eye and tissue donors are honored and
UNT EAS, California residents can sign up with the (Donate Life California {Donor &Otry when applying for or
renewing their driver's Ccenses or ID cards at the CaCfornia tDepartment of Motor Vehicles.
