Summarize why you wish to serve the City of Newport Beach on a board, commission or committee. Include any special qualifications
you have which are particularly appropriate to the position for which you are applying.
I believe that Newport Beach's unique and exceptional environmental features are a significant aspect as to why our city is such a
remarkable place. I want to serve on the Environmental Quality Affairs Citizen Advisory Committee to ensure that these resources are
protected and the environmental quality of Newport Beach is at the highest of levels. I will serve with great vigilance to ensure our
environmental features represent a clean, healthy and enjoyable asset to the citizens and visitors of Newport Beach. I will bring a voice to
those who use these resources and those small businesses that exist because of these assets.
Frequently I exercise along the Back Bay trails, row out on the bay taking in the sun and decompressing after a long week, or take my wife
and 5 year old son down to the beach to play. I am not alone - for so many us who live here or visit, there is a gravitational pull to
Newport Beach because of these natural and beautiful assets. Serving on this committee is a natural extension of my interest and
commitment to the environment and the community of Newport Beach.
Having served on a number of boards and commissions I understand the need for accurate and timely information; I will approach this
role in the same way. In this role, I commit to be open and available to all stakeholders in our community and thoughtfully addressing
Input in a manner that is consistent with the committee's charter and the vision of the council.
I certify that all statements made on this application are true and correct to the best of my knowledge. I have read and understand the
duties and responsibilities of the particular position(s) that 1 am applying for and authorize the release of this information on the internet.
