Lewis appeared at the news confer-
ern:e with the other three coacbes
whose teams are shooting for the na-
tional title: Dean Smith of North Caro-
lina, Don Donoher of Dayton and John
Wooden of. UCLA.
Lewis was asked tbe lnevltable ques-
tion if be planned to stall against the
Bruins.
"No, we're not going to change what
LIKES STUFF
Guy Lewis
we've been doing all year," Lewis
said.
But later in the interview, Lewis
modified bis statement.
"Oh, if we're ahead 18 or 20 points
with 30 or 40 seconds to go, l wouldn't
1ay we won't stall."
Lewis described. his. team like this:
"We've got ·more belght than most
ball clubs and we have less speed than
m06l And everybody knows we don't
have a good outside shooting team •
"But our strength is that we have
a good beoch and some tall boys wbo
can play pretty wen."
"They're a very big, very good
team," UCLA's Wooden said. "And
they're not only tall, they have weight.
We haven't laced a heavier team all
year."
Turning to his own team, Wooden
said, "I'd rather be the prohibitive
favorite than the decided underdog
anytime.
"I think we'".e been the prohibiUve
favorite everywtiere we've been thls
year, so I feel we're used to It by now."
Sitting beside Wooden when be made
the statement was Donaher, whose
Dayton team.is the decided underdog
in the tournament field. But the Fly.
ers' coach says it's nothing new.
"Being the underdogs is nothing
new to WJ," he said. "We were the
underdogs in all three of our regional
games." They defeated Westera J(en-
tucky, Tennessee and Vlrginla Tech
en route to the finals.

FOR OUTDOOR STORAGE
Creation of good outdoor storage is a pressing need for most
homes. Mony things rightfully belong out side the house and are fer more
usable when stashed near the yard.
Garden tools are a good example. Any gardener will agree that
the job gets done faster and with less fuss w~n tools are kept right in
the yard. Other things that belong outside indude sports equipment such
as skis and golf clubs, automotive -supplies and fi replace wood.
Now where is the best stashing spot? The garage or carport i'
always a good candidate, providing it's desi9ned for the job. Architects
coping with the problem suggest th~t one wall of the carport be devoted
to storage and designed with full-height double-door dosets which open
to the carport's interior or directly to the yard if protected by a roof
overhang.
When closets open to the interior, the carport must be larger than
standard to accommodate the opened closet doors es well as movement
of equipment. A storage woll built along the side demands g~ter width.
Figure a minimum of four feet extro, not including depth of the closeh.
For end woll closets, include o side or bock doorway to the yard
so equipment con be wheeled in and out without having to move porked
cars.
It i~ easy to combine high style with practicality in carport stor-~ge. Closet doors con be built using hondsome, hard-wearing one-by-four
inch tongue-ond-groove western red cedar siding boards.
The siding boards ore screwed into·z-shaped braces ot the back.
Two screws ore used per board at eoch horizontal member of the brace
and con be set so that the visible screw heods moke o decorative pattern.
Doors con be hung with surf oce-opplied butt hinges, and gate
latches with padlocks ore o simple rolution to hardware .
