PAUL ORR. who previously produced Paar's series
lor NBC-TV, now is bandlin~ the same job for Billhop on
ABC-TV. But apparently it was Bishop himself who
landed Paar u a guest.
In a phone chat Sunday night from his ho:ne, when
he was meeting hurriedly with his advisers coocerning
the Paar appearance, Bishop said: ''l called him up, and
I said 'bow would you lite to do a show for the kind of
rooney you used to pay!' "
Bish.op said that Paar agreed to do the program,
"and I WM in a state of shock." He said he later went o•er
to Paar's hotel, and hit! guest alreldy wa.s "pacing, walk-
in~ around, figuring out wbat to do" on the show. Bishop
suggested they just "wing it."
AS FOR HOW long Paar's appearance would be .
Bishop said, "he can be on for the whole hour and a half
if he wants."
Thus t.be late-night television entertainment batue
of the networb is already shaping up as one of rugged
in·frgbting for the ntings. And it will become Men
rougher May 1 when the new United Network'• nJghUy
tw<HK>ur show from W Vegas bows in with Bill Oma
as bo8t. tt is understood that Milton Berle will be an
opening night guest with Dana.
A group of diverting special programs turned up on
the networks Sunday. From the Prado Museum in
9-.. ..,_ ...._, .._.. Madrid, NBC-TV's "Telephone Hour" offered a look at ~I 'S-Dlllflll Ir--. .,. Jtreat Spanish paintings as well as music by noted per-

A Teacher's Rebutt.al
Tc. tht-Editor:
AJ a public school tNCheT I must
take exception to tht letter of Wil-
liam Knight (April 19). He gives the
impression that school teachers are
overpaid and underworkf!d.
I can sympathize with Mr. Knight''
position. Be.lng 'T.Z and on Socia1 Se-
curity these day1 is very difficult,
especially if he wu unable or did not
h11ve the foresight to prepare bis fi-
nancial position fOI" hll later non-urn-
ing years. However. his attack on
school teachers seems to me to De
completely unjustified. He 1talel th.at
"they live in $35,000 homes." He alao
says "most of theil wives work a<.. I
flgure between them they make an
average of a boot $12,000 a year. Not
bad for about eight month's work."
He. goes on to state: "Sometimes
tm bus band moonJights."
FOR HIS EDIFICATION, and any-
one e1M IO similarly mlsinlonned, I
would like to uy I went to work in •
junior high school, with six years of
college background plu1 a teaching
