Outstanding Members
Chosen as Delegates
As a reward for contributing the most service hours to Newport Beach
Junior Ebells, Mrs. Edward Whitehouse Jr. and Mrs. Gary Rawlings will re-
ceive an expense paid trip to the cooventlon of California Federation of
Women's Clubs, Junior membership, Friday and Saturday, May 19 and 20,
in San Diego.
For lll06t of the year. Jun.iOI' Ebells complete projects and aid phil-
anthropies without thought of compensatJon, but the work of these two mem-
bers merited special attention
Both earned most of their hours through work on the award-winning
fine arts committee. Mrs. Whitehouse, the club's incoming first vice presi·
dent, also has sef'Ved as third vice president and program chairman. She
was instrumental in the formation of Stagehands, a support organization
for South Coast Repertory Theater, and rep~nted Junior Ebells on the
Council of Arts of the Coastal Area
Continuing her interest in the arts. she helped set up the sixth an-
nual children's art show. and while most membe'rs were relaxing last sum-
mer she taught a creative children's art workshop to children of club mem-
bers.
Mrs. Whitehouse has been appointed by the Newport Beach City
Council to serve for three years on the city arts committee and WM fine
arts chainnan of Orange District. She also is program chairman of the New-
port Harbor Girl Scout Council.
As a newcomer this year to Junior Ebells, Mrs. Rawlings plungi!d
enthusiastically into committee work. Most of her talents were directed to
the fine arts committee. She worked industriously on the children's boutique,
the club's fall ways and means project and gave many hours to the children's
art show
She was lilStrumental in winning second place for her club in a table
setting contest sponsored by the Ebells. She also was secretary of Stagehands.
With the experience of her first year behind her, Mrs Rawlings ~
been appointed incoming fine arts chairman of the Juniors.
Another organization benefits from her range o! talents, f()(' she ii
active in the mother's \Wrkshop of PT A.
