TITLE: Second Reading of Ordinance 2017-12 Establishing a Pilot Program
Allowing A -Frame Signs in Lido Marina Village (PA2014-054)
ABSTRACT:
The attached ordinance was introduced at the July 25, 2017, City Council meeting. A -Frame
signs currently are only permitted on private property in the Corona del Mar commercial
corridor. A one-year pilot program would assess the impacts of allowing this type of
signage in Lido Marina Village. If successful, the Zoning Code would be amended to
allow A -Frames in Lido Marina Village long-term.
RECOMMENDATION:
a) Find the project is categorically exempt under Section 15303, of the State CEQA
(California Environmental Quality Act) Guidelines — Class 3 (Construction or
Conversion of Small Structures); and
b) Conduct second reading and adopt Ordinance No. 2017-12, An Interim Ordinance of
the City Council of the City off Newport Beach, California, Allowing A -Frame Signs in
Lido Marina Village.
FUNDING REQUIREMENTS:
There is no fiscal (budget) impact related to this item.
ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW:
Staff recommends the City Council find this project is categorically exempt under Section
15303, of the State CEQA (California Environmental Quality Act) Guidelines — Class 3
(Construction or Conversion of Small Structures) in that the pilot program would allow for
A -Frame signs to locate on private property.
